Sony Introduces PlayStation Heroes, Play Games with Celebs for Causes

400°
2w ago - Sony VP of Platforms Marketing John Koller introduced PlayStation Heroes today, where users can play games with celebrities to benefit the world's great causes!

To quote: Hi PlayStation Nation! I'm extremely excited to announce PlayStation HEROES, a brand new initiative that will give PS4 owners the chance to play celebrities and professional athletes in the games of their choosing, with nearly all funds raised going to charity.

This is not a one-time event - gamers will get the chance to challenge celebs every month.

Winners will play some of the biggest PS4 games with cultural icons from the sports and entertainment worlds, online via PlayStation Network and in person.

Here's how it works: PS4 owners will purchase and download digital themes and other items via an official PlayStation HEROES app, with each dollar spent providing you with a sweepstakes entry to win one of the celebrity gaming sessions.

Ninety percent of the purchase price of those items will help aid some amazing charitable organizations including Make-A-Wish, The USO and The V Foundation for Cancer Research. To celebrate PlayStation HEROES and kick start our support for these incredible causes, we're donating $100,000 to each charity.

Sony on PSN: Upgrade PSN Sub Accounts to Master Accounts

700°
2w ago - Sony Network Entertainment VP Eric Lempel shared details today on how you can upgrade PSN Sub Accounts to Master Accounts below.

To quote: Starting today, PlayStation Network (PSN) users will gain the ability to upgrade a sub account to a master account. We're always listening to user feedback, and this is a feature that many of you have asked for.

You'll be able to upgrade an account first through the web and later through PlayStation 4. Instructions on how to start this process through the web can be found here.

In case you aren't familiar, sub accounts allow users under the age of 18 to access PSN while letting parents or guardians manage their online experience. A variety of PSN features can be limited through sub accounts including messages, monthly spending limits, and gameplay broadcasts.

Additional information is available on our Knowledge Center, here.

If you were on a sub account and turned 18 (Happy belated birthday!), you may want to upgrade to a master account to access the full feature set of PlayStation's online experience, including PlayStation Store.
