New Sony PlayStation and PSN Games for February 10, 2015

New Sony PlayStation and PSN Games for February 10, 2015 1000°
3w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements is here with the new PlayStation and PSN games for the upcoming week today, as follows:

Flying a ship through space must be a fun, right? How about when you add a seemingly endless storm of asteroids, aliens, world-ending robots, and also a resupply ship that can kill you? That's right, Stardust is back, and it's gotten a boost with Super Stardust Ultra on PS4.

The well-loved, high-score chasing shooter Super Stardust returns to PlayStation with enhanced visuals, 1080p resolution, and buttery 60 frames per second gameplay.

Blast away at asteroids and enemies alike in nine different single-player modes, and challenge five new planets not available in the original version. Super Stardust Ultra is the definitive way to experience one of the best twin-stick shooters on PlayStation.

And if hunting monsters on a dangerous jungle world is more appetizing, look no further than the asymmetrical multiplayer shooter Evolve, which hits PS4 this week. Choose either a well-equipped hunter or a perfect killing machine and tackle objective-based rounds on a variety of alien landscapes.

For a full list of games coming this week, read on, and enjoy the Drop!

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide Unveiled for PlayStation 4

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide Unveiled for PlayStation 4 1150°
4w ago - Fatshark Executive Producer Martin Wahlund officially unveiled Vermintide today in Warhammer: End Times for PlayStation 4.

To quote: Fatshark is proud to announce Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, a game we've been working hard on for the past two years.

We've been wanting to make a Warhammer game since a group of us at Fatshark started playing Warhammer Fantasy Battle together in our spare time back in 2004. At the time, we lacked the experience and the team to build a game that we felt would live up to our dreams.

After having worked on a number of games and watched the team grow in size, we finally set out to build our most ambitious game to date in an IP that we are incredibly passionate about.

Vermintide is a co-operative action first person shooter and melee combat adventure set in the End Times of the iconic Warhammer Fantasy universe.

The game takes place in and around Ubersreik, a city overrun by Skaven. Players will assume the role of one of five heroes, each featuring different play-styles, abilities, gear and personality.

Working cooperatively, players must use their individual attributes to survive an apocalyptic invasion from the hordes of relentless rat-men, known as the Skaven. Battles will take place across a range of environments...

Secret Ponchos Gets New Characters, Free PS4 Maps on 2/17

Secret Ponchos Gets New Characters, Free PS4 Maps on 2/17 650°
4w ago - Switchblade Monkeys CEO Yousuf Mapara announced today that Secret Ponchos is getting new characters and free PS4 maps on February 17th with details below!

To quote: Hello outlaws! The team here at Switchblade Monkeys is thrilled to announce The Hunting Ground, our first major content drop for Secret Ponchos coming to your PS4 February 17th, 2015.

Our goal is to keep the game evolving and growing over time, so it keeps getting better and better.

What's in this expansion?

A lot! With The Hunting Ground update we aimed to make sure we provide content for everyone: those who want to support us in expanding the game by purchasing some DLC, and our players who just love Secret Ponchos and want free new content.

New Content

We learned a lot from community feedback since the PS+ launch of our game, and we've been working hard on many improvements. Being a tiny indie team, we aimed to putout a game that's fun and deep, but to do that it would have to start small. One of the things we heard the most is "more content", so we took that to heart and here it is! Included are 2 new maps - for FREE.

Additionally, our artists wanted to show a gesture of appreciation for our community, and have built a custom exclusive unlockable...

Sony Goes Hands on with Dark Souls II for PS4 on PlayStation 4

Sony Goes Hands on with Dark Souls II for PS4 on PlayStation 4 1100°
4w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman went hands on with Dark Souls II for PS4 today on PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin on PS4 adds the expected technical improvements, but also remixes core gameplay elements to give veterans a reason to dive back in.

The jump to PS4 has given developer FromSoftware an opportunity to paint a more pleasing picture. The native 1080p resolution, upgraded lighting effects, and cinematic filters give the game a richer, cleaner look compared to the PS3 version.

But the biggest improvement comes from the improved frame rate - 60 frames per second according to Bandai Namco representatives. The increased fluidity translates into more responsive movement and combat, a major advantage considering the game's famously unforgiving difficulty.

Then there are the gameplay adjustments. You won't be able to rely on your memory to cakewalk the PS4 game because some enemies and item locations have been changed. Enemies will follow you more tenaciously, even through fog gates - a terrifying, potentially ruinous side effect of PS4's expanded RAM pool.

Some weapons are also being tweaked. I noticed that the Fire Long Sword, a powerful early-game weapon that saved my butt countless times on...

Video: The Crazy Story Behind Shiftlings PS4 on PlayStation 4

Video: The Crazy Story Behind Shiftlings PS4 on PlayStation 4 800°
4w ago - Rock Pocket Games PR and Assistant Producer Natascha Rooslio shared a PS4 video today spotlighting the crazy story behind Shiftlings on PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: Hey everyone! It's so awesome to be able to share a bit of the background story behind Shiftlings with you, because, yeah, the game actually has one!

The prototype for Shiftlings was born during a Game Jam competition here in Norway. Due to holiday, vacation and family (ahem...) interference, we only had five days instead of ten to come up with an idea to fit the theme of "Size Matters." So our first task was obviously to get the game design and core mechanics in place.

However, we were always quite adamant that there should be a reason why you would want to go through any level, even if that specific reason (and its conclusion) would only be revealed at a later point in the game. After all, solving puzzles just for the heck of it is not really incredibly interesting.

Once we had the heart of the game in place, we wanted to make sure everything around that core made sense and gave the mechanics meaning.

We took some inspiration from our favorite game shows to create the framework for our game. Many shows have cheeky narrators...
