273w ago - SpikeTV's 2009 Video Game Awards delivered the first in game footage of Bungie's Halo Reach to the masses.

Halo: Reach is an upcoming first-person shooter video game for Microsoft's XBox 360 console.

It is part of the Halo series, and it is scheduled for release during Fall 2010.

The announcement trailer shows the colony Reach, humanity's largest military production and command planet, under attack by an unknown force, referred to in the trailer as "them."

294w ago - Sony of Japan has announced today news that TurboGrafx-16 / PC Engine Games are coming to PlayStation Network.

Bomberman '94, New Adventure Island (Takahashi Meijin no Shin Boukenjima), Sengoku Mahjong, and Devil Crush are available starting today, priced at the standard Game Archives going price of 600.

The games are playable on both PlayStation 3 and PSP.

In a statement, Sony said to expect more PC Engine titles on the service in the future. Below is the press release, roughly translated:

Press Release: Sony Computer Entertainment Of Japan (SCEJ), today in 2009 Wednesday, July 15 from the PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) and PSP "PlayStation Portable" download service available in the PlayStation Store "GEMUAKAIBUSU" in the category, PC 2 engine will be handled in software.

299w ago - Those thinking that Metal Gear Solid: Rising use the Metal Gear Solid 4 engine will be declared wrong.

According to the latest Kojima Productions podcast, Konami is developing a brand new game engine for Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

Kojima Productions podcast host Sean Eyestone says that this is to "realize this multi-platform goal".

To quote: "We're redoing the engine from scratch, and it's going to look amazing," says Eyestone.

"It's going to be a big project like Metal Gear Solid 4. The entire team is serious about making it look as good as possible on every platform."

304w ago - Game engine work on both the PS3 and XBox 360 versions of this hotly anticipated JRPG Final Fantasy XIII is being conducted simultaneously, Square Enix has revealed.

To quote: Speaking to VideoGamer.com (linked above) at a recent press event in London, Final Fantasy XIII producer and series legend Yoshinori Kitase said that regarding the "basic engine", work on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game will be kept on the go "simultaneously".

Final Fantasy XIII runs on the Crystal Tools game engine, an engine built by Square Enix to be used across the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC. It was created during development of Final Fantasy XIII as a means of stepping up from the PS2, home of the last "main series" Final Fantasy game.

The Xbox 360 version of the game was spectacularly announced during Microsoft's media briefing at E3 last year. Square Enix has said that the game will be released in Japan on the PS3 only, then released in the US and Europe simultaneously on the PS3 and Xbox 360 at a later date.

In a video shown to press late last year, Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama said: "We're making the PS3 version first, and then porting to the 360 later."
