Rumor: World Favorite Nintendo Wii is going HD

Rumor: World Favorite Nintendo Wii is going HD 50°
334w ago - The world's most popular games console is being upgraded. Japanese games giant Nintendo is developing a high-definition model of its Wii console, which has sold more than 30 million units globally.

Though no official announcement has yet been made despite numerous rumors, games developers in Japan have been given top secret briefings on the next-generation console, thought to be named Wii HD.

The new console will support high-definition graphics, bringing it in line with Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 and will likely debut in late 2011.

The Wii HD is also rumored to feature a high-capacity hard drive for the storage and streaming of digital content such as music and video. Meanwhile, Nintendo has unveiled its new hand-held games machine, the DSi.

A successor to the company's hit Nintendo DS portable games unit (pictured left), the new DSi has two cameras and can play digital music.

It is 12 per cent slimmer than the current model DS and has a slightly bigger screen at 3.25 inches. An SD slot has also been added for storage of photos and, potentially, games. The DSi will be released in Japan on November 1 and cost about $225, but it will not be in shops here until...

Call Of Duty: World at War BETA to be XBox 360 and PC only

Call Of Duty: World at War BETA to be XBox 360 and PC only 300°
335w ago - Sorry PS3 gamers, but according to Treyarch and the people at Activision, the upcoming online multiplayer BETA for Call of Duty: World at War will be for XBox 360 and PC owners only.

For those of you who remember, Infinity Ward pulled a similar move last year by hosting the Call of Duty 4 BETA only on the XBox 360. After speaking with a Activision representative, I was told that the reasoning behind doing an XBox 360 and PC BETA was primarily due to increased server and connectivity data.

"We are running the BETA only on the XBox 360 and PC," said the representative. He continued then to point out that most BETAs on the PS3 are run by first party anyways, and if Treyarch runs their testing on the XBox 360 and PC they acquire more data on servers and connectivity.

Personally, I think that it's imperative to sufficiently test all networks a game will be running on, and that includes the PlayStation Network. Yes, if you were to run the BETA solely on the PlayStation 3, you'd acquire less data than a 360 BETA, but why not have a BETA span multiple platforms? Is it that much more work?

What do you think about this debacle? Let us know in the comments section below.

Call Of Duty: World at War Limited Edition Revealed 50°
336w ago - Treyarch has revealed details about the Call of Duty: World at War Limited Collector's Edition, due to ship alongside the game when it launches on November 14th.

The Limited Collector's Edition comes packaged in a metal storage tin big enough to store multiple games. So if you were ever looking for a solution to transporting all of your Call of Duty's together, here it is.

The only other physical item included with the limited edition is a branded steel canteen. The other bonuses are all digital items to use in game, including the powerful FG 42 Machine Gun being unlocked from day one, a VIP status tag for use in the online multiplayer modes, and an exclusive double experience week.

So far we've only seen shots of the Xbox 360 and PC Limited Collector's Editions, so it's unclear as to whether it'll be available on other platforms. Check out the first pics below!
