Video: 17-BIT Announces Skulls of the Shogun is Rolling Onto PS4

Video: 17-BIT Announces Skulls of the Shogun is Rolling Onto PS4 50°
44w ago - Senior Producer Raj Joshi at 17-BIT shared a video today announcing that Skulls of the Shogun is rolling onto PS4.

To quote: It's been a long road for us at 17-BIT getting Skulls of the Shogun out the door - and we hope you're ready for what's set to be the ultimate version of the fast-paced, turn-based strategy game: The Bone-a-Fide Edition, finally coming to PlayStation 4!

Skulls of the Shogun is a mash-up of turn-based strategy and fighting-game flare, scientifically engineered for lightning-quick rounds, thoughtful strategic play, and a frequently inappropriate sense of humor with its tongue planted firmly in cheek.

And whether you're into single or multiplayer, Skulls has you covered.

You play General Akamoto, Japan's greatest shogun, who's been stabbed in the back on the eve of his greatest battle - and transported to the Samurai Afterlife. But an impostor has taken your place, and it's up to you to shatter his plans and regain your honor as Shogun - of the Dead!

As you play through a beefy 10-hour single-player campaign, you'll build up your undead army, assembling infantry, archers, and scouts, along with a magical menagerie of animal monks.

You'll haunt rice fields, build units, and power up your troops by feasting on the skulls of your...

Video: Alien Trap Games Announces Apotheon is Coming to PS4 50°
44w ago - Continuing with Sony's PS4 news flood, Alien Trap Games Designer Jesse McGibney announced today that Apotheon is coming to PlayStation 4 with a video of it in action below!

To quote: Looking back, making our upcoming action sidescroller Apotheon in the visage of ancient Greek pottery seemed like an obvious choice. Everything is already there.

The 2D perspective, the awesome narrative and setting possibilities, heroes fighting monsters and magical goat-men with no pants... All we really had to do was figure out how to make the art on those pots move around and make it into an interesting game.

That's taken the two of us almost three years now. But we're almost at the end of our long road, and we're super excited to announce our new partnership with PlayStation to help us out and bring our hard work to even more players, as Apotheon will be coming to PS4.

Here's a few things we think will make Apotheon a blast to play with DualShock 4 in hand.

The combat in Apotheon draws mainly from our collective background as multiplayer FPS gamers. We were never much for button-mashy or combo based fighters, which I think have a bit of a stranglehold on 2D action games (especially melee focused...

Video: Zachtronics Announces Ironclad Tactics is Coming to PS4

Video: Zachtronics Announces Ironclad Tactics is Coming to PS4 50°
44w ago - Zachtronics Creative Director Zach Barth announced today that Ironclad Tactics is coming to PlayStation 4 with a PS4 video below.

To quote: One of the problems with making a game about the American Civil War is that it's fairly boring, at least compared to other video game themes. However, I believe that we have solved that problem, through the addition of massive, steam-powered automatons designed for a single purpose: WAR!

Ironclad Tactics is a fast-paced, card-based tactics game set in the American Civil War... with robots! Although it's reminiscent of the tactics games and collectible card games that we're all familiar with, we've done a few things that make the game stand out:

• When it comes to games, I am not a patient person. One of my biggest frustrations with card and tactics games is waiting for my opponent to take their turn, especially when they're an AI. In Ironclad Tactics, this is not a problem, as the entire game is streamlined for 10-second, fixed-length turns taken by all players simultaneously, blending the best of turn-based and real-time gameplay.

• You can call me old fashioned, but one thing I don't understand are digital card games that require you to purchase individual cards. They're just ones and zeroes! They don't exist! In Ironclad...

Video: MagicalTimeBean Announces Escape Goat 2 is Coming to PS4 50°
44w ago - MagicalTimeBean Developer Ian Stocker announced that Escape Goat 2 is coming to PS4 complete with a video trailer below!

To quote: I'm glad I didn't go with my original opening paragraph for this post. It just enumerated the reasons Escape Goat 2 sets itself apart from other puzzle platformers out there. I've shown the game to so many people that the shtick is burned in my mind. And ultimately, it's impossible to describe, because the fun of Escape Goat is intangible.

Danielle Riendeau from Polygon put it in the most flattering terms: "Escape Goat 2 made me feel brilliant."

Could an indie really ask for a better pull quote?

I will mention (with only the slightest bit of ego) that this is the first ever "Double Fine Presents" game. Though the myth of how "Tim Schafer's Escape Goat 2 came to be published by Double Fine on PC last March has reached the ends of the internet, I can take this opportunity to tell you the Real Story.

In early 2014, the goat's final development days were spent just down the hall from Double Fine Productions, who were thinking about getting into the publishing business (just don't call them a publisher).

Team Goatimus (myself,...

Frima Studio Announces Chariot PS4 is Coming to PlayStation 4

Frima Studio Announces Chariot PS4 is Coming to PlayStation 4 50°
44w ago - Frima Studio Executive Producer Martin Brouard announced today that Chariot PS4 is coming to the PlayStation 4 video gaming console!

To quote: I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to finally share some info about our new PS4 game with the PlayStation community. Our small team has been working on Chariot for a while now, and I can't wait to see what you guys think of it.

Chariot is a 2D, couch co-op adventure platformer in which two players must work together to guide a chariot through underground levels using physics-based mechanics such as pushing, pulling, riding, reeling, and so on. But don't worry; even though the game is designed for multiplayer shenanigans, it's also super fun to play solo.

Philippe Dion, Chariot's creative lead, came to me a while back with this very original idea for a physics-based couch-co-op platformer designed around exploring caves with a vehicle. Everyone here was instantly charmed by the initial prototype. Even though it was entirely done with stick figures, we knew we were on to something when we watched people playing together, arguing and teasing each other, and really having a great time goofing around.

Getting from that stickman prototype to the next-gen platformer that is now Chariot was quite a ride. Ride, get it?
