Man inexplicably brings touchscreen to the PSP

Man inexplicably brings touchscreen to the PSP 50°
342w ago - A certain jube808 has launched a quixotic quest to add a myriad of features to the PSP that he believes should've been there from the start, including beefed up battery life, a better control pad, and touchscreen support.

Think what you will of his aims, he certainly seems to have some hardware chops, as he's got a touchscreen up and running on the handheld.

So far he's just got a proof of concept keyboard, which works with a finger or a stylus, but the hope is to provide full touchscreen support for homebrew gaming.

80GB PS3 Official UK release date

80GB PS3 Official UK release date 100°
342w ago - Recently announced at E3, the 80GB PlayStation 3 finally has a release date in the UK, 29th August 2008, and will presumably be the same date across Europe. The new 80GB model will phase out the now older 40GB model while sharing the same features (or lack of) at the same price.

The PlayStation 3 80GB model does NOT feature:

* Backwards Compatibility with PS2 Games
* Memory Stick Card Readers
* SACD Playback
* Ethernet Cable
* 4 USB Ports, (The PS3 80GB model features 2)

It is also being bundled with a DualShock 3 rather than a SIXAXIS too, so if you were considering buying a PS3 then hold out just a little longer and grab yourself a great deal, and with the new platinum range which has just been released you'll be able to pick up some get PS3 titles for a decent price.

342w ago - Nefarious has released an update to Cross Extended, a Custom Firmware 4.01 M33 compatible plug-in that displays detailed system information to users regarding their PSP, such as the motherboard type, battery voltage, and installed plug-in modules.

In addition to a bug fix regarding Memory Stick cards with more than 4GB capacity, version 1.1 fixes a control issue that caused an incompatibility with certain homebrew applications – notably LightMP3 and PSPFiler.

Download: Cross Extended v1.1 Custom Firmware Plug-In for PSP

Changelog 1.1:

making it completely available in games.

* Fixed the limitation for Memory Stick greater than 4Gb.

Want in the BETA for PlayStation Home? Download a PS3 Theme!

Want in the BETA for PlayStation Home? Download a PS3 Theme! 250°
343w ago - The long-promised PlayStation Home BETA expansion is rolling out soon. How soon? Sony announced today (linked above) that users who download a Home branded PS3 theme from the PS Store will be automatically entered in for possible participation in the ongoing BETA program... similar to what is being done for Japan.

Straight from Home director Jack Buser: Later today, the PLAYSTATION Store will be updated with a PlayStation Home theme. By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home BETA test community.

We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network to determine eligibility for the BETA community. Existing Home BETA users worry not, as your accounts will transfer over to the extended BETA period.

Keep in mind that this all applies to North American folks only. Over in Euro-land, SCEE will be targeting the most active users on PSN.
