Worldwide PS3 Releases for the Week of October 5th, 2008

Worldwide PS3 Releases for the Week of October 5th, 2008 50°
335w ago - Did anyone else think that the Fracture demo wasn't as abysmal as you were expecting? Sure, it was the epitome of mediocre third-person action with a gimmick attached, but at times it was almost fun.

Well the full game is out this week in both the US and Europe and, unless you're a European lego fan with vigilante tendencies, that's pretty much it. Oh, except for basketball. Lots of basketball. Here's the full release list:

US Games
Fracture
NBA 2K9
NBA Live 2009
NBA 09: The Inside

EU Games
Lego Batman
Fracture
NBA 2K9
NBA Live 09

Asian Games
NBA 09: The Inside
NBA Live 09
Guitar Hero III
Guitar Hero Aerosmith

Release dates are constantly subject to change, so be sure to check with your local retailer before making any sudden moves. Your PS3 will play games from any region, so go ahead and import anything you see above.

Do be aware that DLC is locked to specific regions, though, so European games will require DLC from the Euro PSN Store. You may also be interested to know that NBA 09: The Inside is the only NBA game to support trophies.

Forget the PS4 Rumors: PlayStation 3 will Keep Us Busy for Years

Forget the PS4 Rumors: PlayStation 3 will Keep Us Busy for Years 550°
335w ago - Just bought a PlayStation 3 console when I read the rumors of a PlayStation 4 coming out soon and all the mind blowing possibilities of the theoretically new console.

I could barely afford the PS3 much less worry about what its going to cost for a PS4. But, based on what Paul Holman (Sony Vice President of Technology) told TechEBlog in 2006, the PS4 will not be out until at least 2010.

Then there's the rumor that the future PS4 will use the same existing cell processor that the current PS3 uses, according to a Japanese tech news site PC Watch. I'm not sure about that because if this rumor does prove to be true, I'd be sorely disappointed.

For the most part, why invest in all these upgrades for the PS3 coming out soon only to purchase a PS4 which as we experienced with the PS3, having limited to no backwards playability again?

They just came out with a PS3 Bluetooth headset for the console, not to mention a possible controller that will function like the controllers of a Wii.

Sony is still upgrading the...

Sainsbury's drops XBox 360 Arcade Price, Sadly not for USA 50°
335w ago - Sainsbury's has reduced the price of the XBox 360 Arcade to just £99.97 as part of a special promotion running until October 12.

The Supermarket chain is also selling the 60GB version of the console for £139.97, but does not stock the Elite 360.

The company is offering a similar deal on its Nintendo Wiis, pricing the console at £149.97, a reduction of £30, until next Sunday.

Hopefully similar US pricedrops will follow soon.

BioShock on PSN, Full Version Scheduled for October 21, 2008

BioShock on PSN, Full Version Scheduled for October 21, 2008 100°
335w ago - No longer will PS3 gamers have to wait for Bioshock, the game that sent Xbox 360 sales into orbit last year. The Bioshock demo for PlayStation 3 is now available for download on the PlayStation Network, as expected earlier this week.

The full version of the game is scheduled for release in retail stores and online October 21, that's only 17 days away!

Bioshock for PS3 has supposedly been improved from the Xbox 360 version, although according to 2k senior producer Melissa Miller not on the graphics level. Some additions include a new "Survivor" mode where enemies are more difficult to defeat, PS3 Trophy support, and new plasmid powers.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with BioShock, it was designed by Ken Levine of 2K Games and released for XBox 360 and PC in August '07.

The game is set in 1960 and follows plane crash survivor Jack who explores the underwater world of Rapture. There he must face attacks by mutants and mechanical drones.

First Spore Add-on to Arrive Soon at Online Game Shops

First Spore Add-on to Arrive Soon at Online Game Shops 50°
335w ago - The first add-on for Spore, called Spore Cute and Creepy Parts, has been spotted at online retailers. It carries with it a price of $19.99 and should go on sale from November 18th, 2008.

To quote: It looks like the first addon for Spore will arrive very soon indeed. Called the Spore Cute & Creepy Parts Pack has a retail price of $19.99 and will be available on the 18th of November.

Word of the expansion appeared on online game shops like Gamestop and Amazon. No box art is currently available.

Judging by the name, the expansion will offer little more than creature parts which is a meager addition for $19.99. We'll give EA the benefit of the doubt for now, and hope that the pack will offer much more than that.
