Sony Unveils PulzAR: PS Vita's Next AR Play Blasts Off Next Month

Sony Unveils PulzAR: PS Vita's Next AR Play Blasts Off Next Month 50°
145w ago - Sony Assistant Producer Shaun Wharton has unveiled the next AR Play video game title for PS Vita called PulzAR, which blasts off next month with full details below!

To quote: We are excited to announce a captivating new addition to the Augmented Reality (AR) Play line-up next month with the release of PulzAR.

PulzAR is a mind boggling, potentially Earth-shattering puzzle game that turns nearly any flat surface into an epic battle against time and a looming celestial event with the use of your AR Play cards.

You see, in PulzAR, the Earth is in grave danger. Somewhere just beyond our planet's outer atmosphere, a series of colossal asteroids are spinning ever closer on a deadly collision course to wipe out humankind.

So far, all attempts to divert their trajectory have failed. Now, in mankind's desperate last stand against certain catastrophe, it's up to you to command a network of explosive rockets and try to blast the asteroids into a harmless meteor shower before they reach Earth.

Using precision laser technology, you have only a limited time to program the guidance system using a series of reflectors, splitters, and filters that activate the nodes that will launch the rockets towards their targets.

Once launched, you are able to follow the rocket,...

Video: The Last of Us PS3 Cutscene: The Sky Has Turned Grey

Video: The Last of Us PS3 Cutscene: The Sky Has Turned Grey 350°
146w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli has posted up a cutscene video trailer today on the upcoming PS3 title The Last of Us dubbed The Sky Has Turned Grey below.

To quote: It's been nearly six months since we announced The Last of Us and development has been a bustling beehive of activity.

If you picked up the March 2012 issue of Game Informer or saw any of the online coverage, you might have read about Joel and Ellie's visit to an abandoned city.

Today, we are excited to share a very fresh, very provocative video that should answer some of your questions about what went down inside those city walls. You'll get an idea of what it takes to be a survivor in Joel and Ellie's heartless new world.

Joel and Ellie won't have an easy road ahead of them. Their path across the US will intersect with other survivors, some of whom won't be friendly. In this scene set to the somber chords of Hank Williams, Sr., Joel and Ellie continue their journey west in a battered pickup truck.

As they drive towards the next destination on their route, and hopefully a place to find critical...

Plastic Studios Introduce Datura, PSN Game for PlayStation Move

Plastic Studios Introduce Datura, PSN Game for PlayStation Move 50°
156w ago - Plastic Studios Game Director Michal Staniszewski has officially introduced Datura today, an exclusive PSN game for PlayStation Move.

To quote: I'm Michal Staniszewski from Team Plastic (Plastic Studios) - yep, the same creators of Linger in Shadows.

Two years ago, we were asked to closely investigate possibilities of the PlayStation Move motion controller, which was still deep in its prototype phase.

Today, we are proud to present you with Datura, which uses the controller in a quite innovative way.

Finding yourself in a mysterious forest, you will navigate your way through the game by controlling your character's hand using Playstation Move technology.

From here, you are immersed into the game's unique experimental narrative and original way of interaction, which enables you to experience the world not only visually, but also empirically – an illusion that you can actually touch trees, faces, and other objects.

While taking inspiration from film-like narratives, Datura is a story you get a chance to physically participate in. As you travel through the game, you will encounter choices and face your consequences. It is through these puzzles that Datura explores an element of anxiety: was it a right choice or a wrong choice?

Without...

Naughty Dog Shares the Latest Details on The Last of Us for PS3

Naughty Dog Shares the Latest Details on The Last of Us for PS3 50°
157w ago - Today Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer has shared the latest details on The Last of Us for the PS3 entertainment system below.

To quote: February has been a month flush with new information about The Last of Us trickling out from a variety of Web sites, magazines and more that have visited the Naughty Dog studio over the past three months.

One of the more in-depth looks at The Last of Us came from the US publication Game Informer, who put together a cover story hub for all the OTHER information they managed to squeeze out of us from a very, very short visit.

The most important part of their visit, to me, was that we were able to show a well-polished, nearly fifteen minute game demo of The Last of Us.

The gameplay demo starts with Joel and Ellie driving down a highway congested with abandoned vehicles, eventually encountering another survivor who looks hurt and is limping towards their pickup truck. Surprisingly, Joel hits the accelerator and just before he barrels into the survivor, he pulls out a gun and shoots at Joel - missing Joel and only breaking the windshield.

With this immediate threat behind them, Joel doesn't have time to react as another survivor in the group rolls a bus downhill towards...

Video: Making Of: The Last Of Us PS3 Announcement Trailer

Video: Making Of: The Last Of Us PS3 Announcement Trailer 350°
161w ago - SCEE Manager James Gallagher has shared some video footage today spotlighting the making of The Last Of Us PS3 announcement trailer below.

To quote: In December we announced The Last of Us during the 2011 Spike VGA Awards. The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind.

Well prior to our announcement we had been hard at work on a trailer perfectly crafted to set the tone and (hopefully) get your blood pumping with excitement when we made our announcement. If you haven't seen that trailer yet be sure to check it out below.

Today we're sharing a deeper look into that trailer. We were hard at work on the announcement trailer for quite awhile and a lot of design went into making certain every frame contained some nugget of information you could take away about the game itself.

Taken more than a year ago and over the course of a few days of planning, prep, and acting what you see here is a nice glimpse into some of the behind the screens work that went into making that trailer possible.

Comprised of shots we decided to keep in the trailer, here's the motion capture footage...
