PS3 Theme Builder v3.0 Update Now Available 50°
312w ago - Recently Lili-Chan has updated PS3 Theme Builder to v3.0, which is now available for those interested in PS3 Theme creation.

Download: PS3 Theme Builder 3.0 (Upgrade Only)

PS3 Theme Builder 3.0 contains numerous updates, including but not limited to the following:

• The application now opens / extracts P3T files automatically, when selecting one using the File > Open command or clicking on the Open button.

• There is a new companion application "Icon Manager". The Icon manager allows users to define new icons definitions as they are released by Sony, eliminating the need for an incremental updates to the application when Sony releases new Icons.

• The application detects if JPG files are saved in non-standard formats (e.g. progressive, or Huffman encoding) and informs the user that the image is not valid.

• After a successful compile, the application cleans up all the .GIM files.

• We have implemented checks that will prevent users from saving / building themes that have "Junk" names (e.g. Blank, undefined, sample, etc...).

• The Genre field has been changed into a combo box with several pre-defined selections available; however...

Mass Effect Dev: PS3 is a Really Amazing Platform to Work On

Mass Effect Dev: PS3 is a Really Amazing Platform to Work On 250°
312w ago - The current issue of Play features an interview with BioWare CEO Dr Ray Muzyka, in which he talks about Mass Effect, Dragon Age and how much he loves the PS3.

We couldn't fit it all into the mag, so here are some 'extras' from the interview:

Play: How are you finding it being part of EA? How has the acquisition changed BioWare?

Ray: We've evolved every year we've been in business and I think we're at a good place. It's great to be part of a large stable company.

Another benefit is also that we're now a developer, but also a publisher. Obviously development is still a big focus for us, but it's great to be a publisher at the same time so we can get to combine everything and make sure you're doing all things right.

We have to adapt. We're part of a larger company now. We have a whole bunch of products of our own, but EA's a very big company overall.

Play: Your older games on the PC are known for their depth and detail. Is it difficult to maintain those qualities when making a game that has to be accessible to console gamers?

Ray: We have an obligation always to make our games as accessible as possible, and yet you don't have to lose the depth and richness of the tactics, the systems,...

PS3 EBOOT.BIN ELF Memory Offsets Mapped for Debug Consoles

PS3 EBOOT.BIN ELF Memory Offsets Mapped for Debug Consoles 50°
312w ago - This was posted 2 days ago (working thread) in the PlayStation 3 Dev News Forum courtesy of XVISTAMAN2005 with assistance from idone, and is handy for PS3 Debug console owners in rebuilding decrypted ELF's from a SELF launched into memory.

To quote: Well this took some time but we have it sorted out, CJPC posted a while back ago that an eboot.bin had been decypted from memory. The bad thing about this is that it is verry difficult to figure out how the file was before it was loaded and to put it back to an executalbe file.

Well after HRS and sleepless nights this has been sorted and put in an easy to do map. The following is an example of the the file location offsets located in the elf header. Based on this the file can be rebuilt in a matter of mins.

NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF HOW IT COULD BE DONE THE MEMORY OFFFSET LOACTIONS CAN CHANGE A BIT FROM FILE TO FILE SO ONE WOULD HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK THERE MEM DUMP FOR SECTIONS IF THE OFFSET TABLE DOES NOT MATCH UP BUT THIS MAP WAS USED ON 3 DIFFERNT EBOOT.BIN'S SO...
