WiiND v1.0 Released for Nintendo Wii, Dumps NAND to USB/SD

50°
311w ago - Nicksasa has released a NAND Flash Toolkit for the Nintendo Wii. Using this kit you can dump your Nintendo Wii's NAND to either a SD card or a USB device and then extract the contents of your NAND with the included Windows utility.

The process is a bit more involved then that as outlined in the quote below. The Wii's NAND is the internal flash that stores all of the System Menu, VC games, game saves, etc... It's a good idea to make a backup of your NAND before you start messing around with installing customization hacks as you can restore it using an Infectus chip if you brick it beyond repair.

Download: WiiND v1.0

To quote: This app dumps to USB and SD: If an usb device is plugged in it will dump to usb. If no usb device is inserted it will dump to sd

To extract the dump you need your NAND AES KEY, you can get that by using Xyzzy. If you have runned xyzzy there is a file called keys.txt in the root of your sd card. Open it and look for NAND AES KEY.

Now make a folder called keys in c: and open your favorite hex editor and copy the NAND AES CODE from keys.txt into your hex editor and save the file as nand-key.bin in the keys folder.

Now just run "extract.exe" and select the nand-dump.img...

LBP Sackboy Appears in Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds for PS3

250°
312w ago - Today SCEA Associate Producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda unveiled that LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy makes an appearance in Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds for Sony's PS3 console.

To quote: I'm back once again with a special announcement from the fairway: LittleBigPlanet's very own Sackboy has landed on a Hot Shots Golf course near you (and by near you, I mean any of the 8 awesome courses in Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds!).

So now that your bestest wish has been granted, what more could we do for you? Well, for starters, we could also include a couple of cool outfits to dress up your Sackboy.

Obviously your next question is: when can I get my hands on this greatness? Well friends, here's the catch – you'll have to wait until tomorrow. I know it must seem like an eternity to some, but if you factor in eating and a good night's sleep, you are looking at a little over 16 hours of wait time.

Then of course if you consider school/work you're practically down to 8 hours; and take into account commuting and you are down to 5 hours; and let's not forget those 5 hours you spend daydreaming about Hot Shots Golf and clicking through YouTube. So you see, if you factor in all those events, the download is but a few minutes away!

Once today has whizzed on by, you'll...

PS3 Trumps XBox 360 in the Movie Stakes, Deal Puts Sony Ahead

50°
312w ago - Microsoft's Xbox 360 may have the movie monopoly in the UK, with downloadable content available from Paramount, Universal and Warner, but Sony is inching ahead in the US.

Sony has recently signed a deal with NBC Universal which was the last major studio to allow downloadable content on the PS3.

This is a feat that Microsoft will possibly never achieve as the one major studio whose content is missing from Xbox Live is, you've guessed it, Sony Pictures.

Unless, of course, they access Sony films through the console's Netflix service.

PSP compatible

Adding Universal's content to the PS3 - which includes the movies Milk and Role Models, and TV shows The Office and Battlestar Galactica - means that the PS3 now boasts around 1,300 movies and 4,500 TV episodes. The movies and shows will also be available to download on the PSP.

Recently, Microsoft bolstered its UK movie download service with the addition of Universal. Let's hope that the content deals Sony has inked will come across the water soon, as the company has still yet to announce a UK movie download service.
