Sony PSN Pass Uncovered on Resistance 3 PS3 Bundle Box 550°
191w ago - Update: Sony has now confirmed PSN Pass to IGN, stating the program requires customers to input a one-time use code to access a game's online capabilities similar to EA's Online Pass.

Today Darko on German site Konsolentreff.net (linked above) has shared an image uncovering Sony's PSN Pass on a Resistance 3 PS3 bundle box.

The text in the image reads as following: "PSN Pass. Network features only available in countries that have PlayStation Store."

While there is currently no official announcement on what PSN Pass is from Sony, Kotaku reports that it may be similar to EA's Online Pass which provides online access to those who either purchase a new copy of a game or those who pay the extra ten bucks to buy their way into networked features.

To quote: "Sony has employed the practice before, selling "Online Entitlement" passes for PSP games SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 and ModNation Racers.

We don't yet know if PSN Pass is real, whether...

Sony Patent Uncovered for Kinect-Like PlayStation Device

Sony Patent Uncovered for Kinect-Like PlayStation Device 550°
224w ago - While Sony is currently promoting Move, today Siliconera.com (linked above) has uncovered a patent for a Kinect-like PlayStation device filed by Sony Computer Entertainment America.

While it's not a controller-free environment, the new controller device does track the location of players.

To quote: It's equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, magnometer, and most interestingly an ultrasonic transmitter. The controller uses this to communicate with another device to determine the location of the controller and player through echolocation.

The controller is half of the gizmo. Users also place this device on the floor and it communicates with a console via radio signals.

Sony equipped the floor sensor with a motion detector, cameras, sound processor, and another ultrasonic processor. Image detection lets it know where players are and if it has been moved.

Like the PlayStation Move controller, it has LEDs on top that provide visual feedback for in-game events and when your batteries are low. An onboard sound processor and microphone are present for voice control."

PlayStation Move Model CECH-ZCM1U FCC Listing Uncovered

PlayStation Move Model CECH-ZCM1U FCC Listing Uncovered 300°
257w ago - A few weeks back Sony officially introduced PlayStation Move for the PS3 entertainment system, and today WirelessGoodness.com (linked above) has uncovered the FCC Listing for it under model number CECH-ZCM1U.

To quote: "Today, Sony passed the Move motion controller through the FCC, suggesting that the device is on schedule for its planned Fall 2010 launch.

The Move controller's model number is CECH-ZCM1U. Interestingly, the device's label pic, above, refers to the controller as the 'Motion Controller.' Sony will probably adopt 'Move' branding when the device nears its release.

Like other PS3 controllers, the Move controller relies on Bluetooth to communicate with the PS3. Unfortunately, FCC documents did not contain any public external or internal pics of the device."

Rumor: XBox 360 Slim Model with Valhalla Chipset Uncovered?

Rumor: XBox 360 Slim Model with Valhalla Chipset Uncovered? 650°
259w ago - Kotaku is reporting on what appears to be a rumored XBox 360 slim model featuring a Valhalla chipset today.

Speculation is currently underway as to whether the source of the picture is a legitimate Chinese leak ala PS3 Slim, or a hoax.

To quote: "These pictures apparently show the guts of a new model of the Xbox 360. The important bits? The fact that for the first time the console combines the CPU and the GPU in a single chip. Oh, and it's small.

The pic shows the board in question, with the chip part of a rumoured redesign for the Xbox 360 console, testing of which has recently been completed in China.

This isn't simply a new board for the existing hardware, either; it's reportedly a total redesign of the console. Think the PS3 Slim, only... for an Xbox 360.

Now, considering the source, there's every reason to be sceptical of the images, and the info. Then again, with Natal due later this year, rebooting the 360 itself to go along with it would make a lot of sense, especially if a reduction in size could come with a reduction in cost."
