Nintendo Wii System Menu 4.0 Available, Blocks Twilight Hack 300°
March 25, 2009 // 3:13 pm - Those considering updating to Nintendo's Wii System Menu 4.0 today may wish to read Marcan's System Menu 4.0 Rundown first as follows:

• Nintendo, as expected, half-assed the SD feature by just automating the copy to NAND. No surprise there.
• The IOS16 that warez users used to pirate is no longer an option, thank goodness.
• HBC survives. So does DVDX.
• They fixed the bug that the HBC installer and DVDX 3.4 installer use; time to bring out another one.
• Twilight Hack no longer works....

Twilight Hack v0.1 BETA 2 out, Compatible with 3.4 Wii Firmware! 50°
November 24, 2008 // 5:35 pm - So I said that the Twilight Hack was gone and probably wouldn't be coming back. Good thing I left that probably in there.

Yes, they screwed up the anti-Twilight Hack check. Again.

There's not much point in us publishing a detailed explanation on where the problems are this time around. It comes down to nothing remarkable anyway - just more stupid, silly bugs. They fixed some and added more. We didn't look much this time because we thought that, well, they really couldn't have screwed it up this time, could they?

Twilight Hack Protection Thwarted, Fix Expected Soon 50°
June 19, 2008 // 4:30 pm - Shortly after Nintendo launched a new Wii firmware update that blocks users from running the homebrew-enabling Twilight Hack, folks immediately began work on investigating the update, uncovering a bug that allows them to bypass Nintendo's savedata check and run the hack without issue.

According to Bushing, Nintendo wrote a set of functions that specifically checks savedata pertaining to Zelda, nothing else. Seems rather foolish, considering that other Wii titles could very well have a similar save exploit.

The code in question went under extensive testing for...

Wii Firmware 3.3 Released, Renders Twilight Hack Useless 50°
June 17, 2008 // 1:24 am - It was inevitable... Reports are coming in that the latest Wii firmware update from Nintendo deletes and prevents edited save game files from being loaded via SD Card.

Essentially, this means that the homebrew enabling Twilight Hack, which comes in the form of a modified save file for non-modified Wii consoles, will no longer function if system menu 3.3 is installed.

According to folks who have already updated, the custom made Homebrew Channel is still accessible if you have it installed prior to upgrading to the new firmware, which is somewhat of a relief.

Wii Twilight Hack & Video released! 50°
February 11, 2008 // 12:12 pm - Twiizers have released a demo of the first ELF loader running on the Wii, using a buffer overflow discovered in Wii title Zelda: Twilight Princess.

The beauty of this exploit is that you do not need modified Wii, only a copy of Twilight Princess. It should be noted, however, that the exploit only works with certain versions of the game. Version RVL-RZDE-0A-2 USA has been reported as incompatible, while the hack is fully functional on versions...
