Videos: Learn the Secrets of The Last of Us PS3 Multiplayer

200°
80w ago - IGN Senior Editor Colin Moriarty has shared several videos today unveiling some of the secrets from The Last of Us PS3 Multiplayer for fans below.

To quote: Greetings, PlayStation-ers! My name is Colin Moriarty, IGN's Senior Editor.

If you're a PlayStation fanatic - and since you're on the PlayStation.Blog, you probably are - you may recognize me as the man in charge of IGN's PS4, PS3, and PS Vita coverage. You may also know me as one-third of Podcast Beyond.

Today, I write my inaugural PlayStation.Blog post to tell you about something I'm very excited for. See, I'm pretty darn keen on The Last of Us... so much so, in fact, that I got sucked in for about 40 hours worth of multiplayer madness after the game launched. And that got me thinking: who's responsible for The Last of Us' most understated feature, its online suite?

Naturally, I found an answer. Naughty Dog's David Ballard was kind enough to come to IGN's San Francisco headquarters to record a series of videos with me, one for each map in the multiplayer suite.

As an integral part of the creation of...

95w ago - Following up on his previous update, today PlayStation 3 hacker SKFU has now shared a few more details on PSNSSS codenames below for PlayStation 4 (PS4) / Orbis stores.

To quote: PSNSSS - Codenames

PSNSSS development continues. Since not all products can be found via a simple search, because some have a flag which forbid to be found this way; I implemented a browsing function.

While browsing the now 522 different stores I noticed a few codenames multiple times:

  • CHIHIRO
  • HAMMERHEAD
  • SWORDFISH

It is still unknown what they mean, but based on the information gathered until now it seems those are codenames for upcoming SONY platforms.

I hope to be able to improve the app further to get more details on this matter.

From sinsizer: It contains Information about the game/dlc or whatever the contentID belongs to. You can also find "apollo" links which are used for the store png's etc..blabla...

Behind the Classics: Amy Hennig Talks Soul Reaver Secrets

200°
124w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has once again gone behind the classics and shared an interview with Amy Hennig today who talks Soul Reaver secrets below!

To quote: Ah, Soul Reaver. I remember it well! This gruesome little gem made quite the splash when it landed on PSone in 1999.

As the wounded, ostracized vampire Raziel, your goal was to avenge yourself against the corrupt vampire lord Kain and restore balance to the decaying world of Nosgoth.

I particularly remember the game's inspired approach to combat; your vampiric foes couldn't be killed by ordinary means, so after weakening them with hand-to-hand combat you had to hurl their broken bodies onto a sharp stake or into a patch of sunlight to finish them off.

The level design was also a knockout, as Raziel was able to phase-shift into a spectral realm in order to bypass obstacles or solve puzzles.

But above all else, Soul Reaver is remembered for its story and characters. And we have the game's director Amy Hennig to thank for that! As you're probably well aware, Hennig later joined celebrated PlayStation developer Naughty Dog, serving as creative director and writer for Jak and Daxter and all three UNCHARTED titles.

Hennig graciously took the time to share her memories of Soul...

Video: Sony Game Creator Reveals the Secrets of PSN's Dyad

50°
149w ago - Today Sony game creator Shawn McGrath has revealed the secrets of PSN's Dyad to fans as part of a new video trailer below.

To quote: Last week in New York City I was fortunate enough to show off Dyad, the almost-ready-done-really-soon-I-promise game coming to PSN for PS3. During our NYC showcase, the crew was kind enough to stop by and conduct a quick Q&A and gameplay session, and you can watch the results in this new original video.

Each of the game's 27 different levels touch upon a variety of mechanics and goals: forming long combos, racing, surviving as long as possible, hitting certain top speeds and more.

And the game's 26 special Trophy levels have challenging alternate goals, whether it's playing just by using sound or collecting objects as quickly as possible.

Since each level has a corresponding leaderboard to track online rankings, Dyad boasts a huge number of leaderboards - 52 in all, each requiring a unique set of skills to master.

I also wanted to mention that David Kanaga did the game's interactive music. Here's his Dyad EP, and you can hear more of his interactive music here.

Dead Nation PS3 Tips and Tricks: Dead Bodies Everywhere

200°
221w ago - Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has posted up a collection of Dead Nation PS3 tips and tricks today dubbed 'Dead Bodies Everywhere' for fans.

To quote: Dead Nation's nonstop shooting and scrambling will test the mettle of even a veteran gamer – and that's part of the fun!

I've compiled my battle-tested tactics gleaned from beating the game on the "Grim" difficulty, plus bonus tips shared by PlayStation Twitter followers.

Earn more gold, find more health, beat back mobs efficiently, and choose the right upgrades. Be sure to leave your own battle-tested tips in the comments!

Mob Rules

• Rush makes you (briefly) invincible. Pressing L2 grants you a burst of speed that makes you untouchable for a nanosecond. Use it to dodge angry Bombies, power through a zombie crowd, or sprint over flames. But even the Rush won't save you from the dreaded Cutter...
• Master the Melee. Melee attacks (R2) knock away all zombies, even those lurking behind you, so it's a must for crowd control. To be a real melee monster, collect fashionable ExoGear armor pieces hidden throughout the game and equip them at the Weapon Shop.
• Melee while reloading. Stuck in a reload animation just as a mob is closing in? Jam on the melee button...
