Video: King Oddball Ends The World Launches on PS Vita Today

60w ago - 10tons PR Coordinator Jaakko Maaniemi shared a fresh video announcing that King Oddball Ends The World launches on PS Vita today.

To quote: Greetings from still miraculously snowless Finland, PlayStation Blog readers! This week 10tons is back with another game to PS Vita, and what a game it is.

I'm quite frankly not sure what to say about King Oddball. Or, King Oddball Ends the World, as the full name goes in all its glory. The game is a bit peculiar, you see. You're probably better off trying the free trial.

While it's technically true that King Oddball falls in the same physics-based puzzle category as Angry Birds, the fruitfulness of the comparison doesn't last long. Sure, you lob objects at things in both games, but that's largely as far as the similarities go.

First of all, King Oddball is a bit weird. What the heck the titular main character even is? What is he a king of? Why is his tongue so absurdly long and stretchy? Why is he in such a foul mood? Your guess is as good as mine. All I know is the eccentric art style and accordion-heavy soundtrack fit the game perfectly.

Gameplay-wise, and this is probably the part everyone is the most interested in, King Oddball is equally uncommon:...

Video: Killzone: Mercenary - Cash is King on PlayStation Vita

103w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared a video below today spotlighting Killzone: Mercenary where he states cash is king on PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Not long ago the US and European press got its first hands-on experiences with Killzone: Mercenary, Guerrilla Games Cambridge's upcoming PS Vita shooter. Despite gracing Vita's portable screen, the team behind Mercenary is hellbent on providing a full FPS experience with all the trimmings.

Come September, you'll get a full nine-mission story-driven campaign, an eight-player competitive multiplayer mode, and a collection of bonus challenge missions.

Watch our new video to get the inside story straight from Art Director Tom Jones.

Much has already been said concerning Killzone: Mercenary's graphical fidelity, but I'll add my voice to the choir: This is one fine, fine-looking game. Because Mercenary runs on a modified version of the Killzone 3 rendering engine, you'll see modern niceties such as volumetric lighting and smoke, high-res environment textures, gleaming metal and realistic-looking shadows.

None of this would be out of place for a modern PS3 shooter, but portable gaming rarely sees this level of extreme graphical detail....

Assassin's Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington is Hitting PS3

50°
108w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Gabriel Graziani has confirmed today that Assassin's Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington will be hitting PS3 on February 19th, 2013.

To quote: A lot has changed in the world of Assassin's Creed III... with the introduction of our first single-player episodic DLC The Tyranny of King Washington this Tuesday, we figured we should reacquaint you with the hero you thought you knew.

In the shattered reality of The Tyranny of King Washington, the events that shaped a young Mohawk warrior into the heroic Connor of AC3 never happened, thrusting a confused Ratonhnhake:ton into a sometimes torturous, yet occasionally blissful, waking dream. Can he obliterate King Washington's demented reign?

To combat George Washington, the former champion of American freedom turned power-mad overlord, Ratonhnhake:ton will need to master new abilities:

• Power of the Bear - Fills Ratonhnhake:ton with the strength and fury of the mighty bear.
• Power of the Eagle - Delivers a burst of speed, empowering Ratonhnhake:ton with blinding agility.
• Power of the Wolf - Adopt the master camouflage of the wolf, rendering Ratonhnhake:ton undetectable.
• Warpaint - A symbol of power and courage enhancing Ratonhnhake:ton's abilities.
• Alpha...

Video: Meet the King of The Unfinished Swan Coming to PSN

50°
130w ago - Giant Sparrow Creative Director Ian Dallas has posted up a video today introducing the king of The Unfinished Swan which is coming to PlayStation Network.

To quote: Like a lot of other great artists, our King is a little crazy.

He's the one who created the entire world that players will be exploring in The Unfinished Swan. And I don't want to give too much away, but the King built a lot of cool stuff. If you like all-white statue gardens, giant labyrinths, or colossal monuments to the King then you're in luck.

Unfortunately, most people don't like those things. At least not in their backyard. Turns out living in the middle of a giant labyrinth is pretty inconvenient, which is why just about everyone in the kingdom eventually moved away.

But the King is the sort of guy who goes right on building the stuff he wants no matter what other people think about it.

Whether or not that's a good thing depends on your point of view and – like I said – how you feel about giant labyrinths.
