Video: Retro / Grade Blasts Off on PlayStation Network August 21st

Video: Retro / Grade Blasts Off on PlayStation Network August 21st 100°
136w ago - 24 Caret Games Co-founder Matt Gilgenbach is here with a fresh video announcing that Retro / Grade officially blasts off on PlayStation Network this August 21st with details below.

To quote: Hey everyone, good news: We've finished our award-winning rhythm/shoot'em up, Retro/Grade!

The game will be released on August 21st exclusively on PS3, and will provide hours of mind-bending rhythm-based gameplay as you fight through reverse-timed space battles.

We've gotten many requests to make Retro/Grade's soundtrack available, so I'll go ahead and confirm that we'll be selling it on PSN. If you want the game and the soundtrack, there will be a discounted bundle - we'll have more details on pricing soon.

For those who aren't familiar with Retro/Grade, it's similar to a classic Shoot 'Em Up... in reverse! At the beginning of the game you stop a massive alien invasion, but all the destruction damages the space/time continuum, causing the flow of time itself to reverse.

What would have been the final boss is actually the beginning of your backwards journey. You must help Rick Rocket restore the continuity of space/time, before the temporal anomaly rips the universe a new time-hole!

Sony Unveils PulzAR: PS Vita's Next AR Play Blasts Off Next Month

Sony Unveils PulzAR: PS Vita's Next AR Play Blasts Off Next Month 50°
145w ago - Sony Assistant Producer Shaun Wharton has unveiled the next AR Play video game title for PS Vita called PulzAR, which blasts off next month with full details below!

To quote: We are excited to announce a captivating new addition to the Augmented Reality (AR) Play line-up next month with the release of PulzAR.

PulzAR is a mind boggling, potentially Earth-shattering puzzle game that turns nearly any flat surface into an epic battle against time and a looming celestial event with the use of your AR Play cards.

You see, in PulzAR, the Earth is in grave danger. Somewhere just beyond our planet's outer atmosphere, a series of colossal asteroids are spinning ever closer on a deadly collision course to wipe out humankind.

So far, all attempts to divert their trajectory have failed. Now, in mankind's desperate last stand against certain catastrophe, it's up to you to command a network of explosive rockets and try to blast the asteroids into a harmless meteor shower before they reach Earth.

Using precision laser technology, you have only a limited time to program the guidance system using a series of reflectors, splitters, and filters that activate the nodes that will launch the rockets towards their targets.

Once launched, you are able to follow the rocket,...

Everyday Shooter Blasts onto PlayStation Portable Today

Everyday Shooter Blasts onto PlayStation Portable Today 100°
326w ago - Sr. Producer Rusty Buchert of Sony Santa Monica Studios shared the following today via PS Blog:

Hi all, it's Rusty again from the Santa Monica Studio. We are getting ready to launch Everyday Shooter PSP on the PSN store today, and we are really thrilled about how it has turned out. Between Jon Mak, Backbone Entertainment and us, we have Jon's thoughts about how everything went on getting this made. Hope you all like what we've done.

First things first: the seaweed is gone, but the hashbrowns are still in the freezer.

So Rusty wanted me to write a little blog post about Everyday Shooter for PSP. I don't really know what to talk about so I guess I'll start chronological and see where that goes.

I actually tried porting Everyday Shooter to PSP way back around December 20th, 2007, and stopped around December 27th, 2007. Here's an old video I found from back then:

WHAT!!??!? WHY DIDN'T YOU RELEASE IT!?!?? WHY DID YOU SIT ON IT FOR 239846921487 MONTHS YOU SON OF SO MANY UNMENTIONABLE THINGS!!!!!!!

I thought the same thing until I remembered that it crashed every eight seconds, had a ridiculously low frame rate, was missing graphics and effects, and generally blew.

Yeah, Everyday Shooter...

Treyarch Blasts Gearbox: They're not in the same league as us!

Treyarch Blasts Gearbox: They're not in the same league as us! 50°
349w ago - Whilst conducting a recent interview, two senior Treyarch developers (who are currently working on COD: World At War), completely laid into rival development team Gearbox, creators of upcoming WWII shooter, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway.

When asked whether they thought Hell's Highway offered any competition to the team, one senior developer blasted "We don't even think about them. Like... that's not the kind of game. They are not a game we even think about when we're playing."

The developer also went on to say "I watched the trailer and I was like these guys are not even in the same league."

Wow, very strong words indeed from Treyarch, let's hope the developers can back it up and COD: World At War proves to be a triple A title.
