Sony Heroes and Villains Head to PlayStation Home in Europe

200°
230w ago - SCEE Home Community Lead Alex Weekes has announced today that Heroes and Villains are heading to PlayStation Home in Europe as part of the update this week.

To quote: We have our first batch of the great costumes that have been released in America recently. Whether you're into fighting crime as a masked hero, or causing mayhem as a villain, we've got you (spandex) covered!

On the hero side there's Captain Inflame-o, The Epsilon Viper and Nocturne, facing off against the villainous Wild Scarlet, Red Raven and Cyborg. Keeping an eye on all of them from a dirty alleyway is the Hobo... deadly assassin in disguise, or just a man down on his luck?

VEEMEE's latest animal-themed costume items have proven to be a hit, and this week sees the second release. Check out the V-store for the latest creatures, including vicious looking draconic pieces.

Lockwood's dropping some more female clothing this week. The latest in fashion from Lockwood is described as "rock chick" and includes a range of gloves and new tops. I'll let the screenshot do the talking:

To finish off quickly, we also have costumes for The Last Airbender and a small LocoRoco update. Yup, there's another unusual item to wear on your head!

Sony Begins Offering PlayStation Plus Retail Cards at Target

100°
231w ago - While PSN cards have been available at retailers for some time now, JoyStiq.com (linked above) reports today that it appears Sony is now offering PlayStation Plus cards at Target as well.

To quote: "You'll soon have an easy way to give the gift of Hulu Plus eligibility and discounts on random PSN games.

Tipster BlindNoir photographed a PlayStation Plus access card found at a Target store, redeemable for one year of membership to the premium service.

Plans for these cards were first (casually) revealed by Sony's Susan Panico in June.

Of course, you could just buy a PSN retail card and use that to pay for a Plus membership (or anything else), but this move gives the fledgling PlayStation Plus more visibility during the holiday shopping season."

Sony Previews FirstPlay Episode 26, Arrives on PSN Wednesday

50°
231w ago - Sony's Associate Editor Nathan Ditum has shared a preview of FirstPlay Episode 26 today, which arrives on PSN this Wednesday for subscribers.

To quote: I've spent a hazardous (certainly to my marriage) amount of time this week hammering Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which is three things: huge, amazing, and not reviewed in FirstPlay until next week, so I'll shut up about it now.

So what is in episode 26 of FirstPlay, available on the Store from this Wednesday? We've got some more Top Gun gear for PlayStation Home - Goose helmet, kids - and another chance to grab our exclusive Joe Danger PSN avatar.

We also have two huge reviews, with in-depth HD verdicts on EA's footballing juggernaut FIFA 11 and Codemasters' beautiful F1 2010, as well as a look at pec-tastic blockbuster Prince Of Persia on Blu-ray.

And there's loads more, including a countdown of the top ten PlayStation games of all time, as voted by Official PlayStation Magazine readers to celebrate the magazine's 50th issue, and a personal take on why MLB The Show is the best sports game on PS3 from the mag's editor Ben Wilson (apparently not because he's rubbish at FIFA. I know, I was surprised too).

We've also got a review of PixelJunk Racers: 2nd Lap, a look at the latest movies...
