Video: God of War Collection - PS3 Trophy Speed Run

Video: God of War Collection - PS3 Trophy Speed Run 50°
277w ago - Today Associate Producer William Weissbaum has posted a video on the PlayStation Blog unveiling the God of War Collection PS3 Trophy speed run.

To quote: With the launch of God of War Collection only a week away (Nov. 17th!), we thought we would give you a leg up on earning one of the more difficult trophies in the game, '15 Min Fight Scene.'

To earn this gold trophy, you have to battle your way to the Loom Chamber in God of War II in under 10 minutes. We got Stephen Peterson, Lead QA Tester on God of War II and a Camera Designer on God of War III, to do a speed run while giving out as many tips as he can.

After playing the game a hundred or so times as a tester, he makes it look easy.

Video: Critter Crunch Hits PS3 via PSN on October 8 for $6.99

Video: Critter Crunch Hits PS3 via PSN on October 8 for $6.99 50°
284w ago - Capy's Creative Director Kris Piotrowski has priced and dated Critter Crunch today, which is heading to PSN on October 8, 2009 for $6.99.

To quote: Kris from Capy here, signing in just to drop a quick little announcement bomb on all y'all brains:

Just in case you didn't actually watch on the video above, here's what you missed:

CRITTER CRUNCH IS COMING TO A NORTH AMERICAN PLAYSTATION 3 NEAR YOU ON OCTOBER 8TH, AKA "THE DAY OF THE CRUNCH" AKA "CRITTER HOUR" AKA "BIGGS' BIG BBQ BASH."

And it's $6.99. SIX DOLLARS AND NINETY-NINE CENTS.

Why? Because we love you, and because we care. And it let us do that animated switcharoo-thing with the "9″ transforming into the "6″ after Biggs peels the price, which we think worked out really well.

Anyway, let me break it down for you in equation form:

(Biggs + Smalls + Critter Crunch) x (October 8th (You - 6.99)) = AWESOME FUN PUZZLE PARTY.

Stay tuned for lots more info on the PlayStation Blog and on www.crittercrunch.com as we approach October 8th.

Guide: Three Ways of Running Your Own Code on PS3

Guide: Three Ways of Running Your Own Code on PS3 650°
286w ago - Today SKFU has posted a brief guide on three way to run your own code on Sony's PS3 console, as follows:

1. OtherOS

The easiest way to run your own code on the PlayStation 3 is through Linux which you can install as alternative OS. Several restrictions regarding the RSX, but it seems to become better regarding 3D acceleration since the new MESA 3D GL was released with CELL support.

2. BD-Java

A few days ago I reported, that the developers of demonhades.org found out, that BD-Java still works if you correctly burn it on a Blu-Ray disc. With the FreePlay's minimal BD-Java SDK it's quite ok to develop Java for PS3.

3. Flash

Since FW 2.0 till FW 3.0 there was the so called Informationboard. This is a simple .swf file on the HDD and can be replaced with knightsolidus' HDD decryption method. As the informationboard.swf does not run in a sandbox there's a lot possible but sadly it was removed in the actual FW 3.0.

Video: PS3 BD-J (Blu-ray Java) Running Through a BD-R Disc!

Video: PS3 BD-J (Blu-ray Java) Running Through a BD-R Disc! 550°
287w ago - Today DemonHades (linked above) posted a video from cupra4t on YouTube showing homebrew PS3 BD-J (Blu-ray Java) running through a BD-R disc on PS3 Firmware 2.80.

This is the first confirmation that PS3 BD-Java is still alive on the PS3 since it stopped working from USB in PS3 Firmware 2.50.

To quote, roughly translated: It appears that recording to any homebrew BD-R BD-Java, this can be run from any PS3 console from any firmware.

To make it work implements have to record the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders in the root of the disk. PS3 to get it into the menu of [Video] we will bear in our BD and homebrew. I leave you a video:

From here it follows that only banned the BD-Java and the USB reader... with this, the Sony console is able to load emulators and homebrew games once again.
