Thailand Bans GTA IV 200°
August 6, 2008 // 4:03 am - Copies of Grand Theft Auto IV have been pulled in Thailand after a teenager confessed to murdering a taxi driver. The 18-year-old high school student is accused of stabbing the cab driver to death by trying to copy a scene from the game.

The biggest video game publisher in the south-east Asian country, New Era Interactive Media, has told retailers to stop selling GTA IV. It is due to be replaced by another video game title.

Ken Kutaragi Lands New Job 50°
May 1, 2008 // 9:10 pm - The father of the PlayStation, otherwise known as Ken Kutaragi, has landed a new job at multimedia firm Kadokawa Group Holdings as outside director.

His new position will be secured at a shareholder meeting scheduled to take place on June 22.

The firm said it is aiming to tap into the former Sony exec's "international business sense," according to an IGN report.

Interestingly, Enterbrain publisher Famitsu is united under the vast corporate umbrella of KGH. It seems Kutaragi isn't ready...

Highlander: Q&A With Gilles Barril 50°
March 19, 2008 // 4:32 pm - In Highlander: The Game, you play as Owen MacLeod, son of a tribal chieftain whose village was destroyed by the Roman Empire. Scheduled to release in August 2008 on the PC, XBOX 360 & PS3, Highlander: The Game enables gamers to exploit the powers of immortality and manipulate situations that death would normally prevent in order to combat the forces of evil.

We had the opportunity to talk with Gilles Barril, Producer at Widescreen Games as he discusses some of the gameplay elements and storyline packed in the title.

Take-Two: BioShock 2 In 2009, Mafia Dev Acquired, Borderlands Delayed 50°
March 12, 2008 // 12:00 am - Publisher Take-Two has announced the results of its first quarter, showing sales of $240.4 million and losses up to $38 million, as it announces that BioShock 2 will be released during fall of 2009, and that it has acquired Mafia developer Illusion Softworks.

Sales fell from $277.3 million the year prior, due to what Take-Two says was a lighter holiday release schedule. Sales were mainly driven by BioShock, Carnival Games, NBA 2K8, and continued sales of its Grand Theft Auto releases, including the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories in Japan. First Look at Highlander on PS3 100°
January 13, 2008 // 10:48 pm - We reported back in August about SCi gaining the licensing to create a Highlander game. Not much has been spoken on in regards to this title; however, a trailer has been released which will be viewable below.

The game is being developed by Widescreen and published through Eidos Interactive.

Here is the first trailer for the title:

The game is still set to span over 2000 years of story throughout the plot. You'll get to fight in such cities as Pompei, Japan, Highlands, and then finally New York.

Church of England Forgives Sony for Resistance 50°
October 24, 2007 // 6:46 pm - Insomniac's sci-fi FPS Resistance: Fall of Man may have missed out on a couple of hard-fought nominations at last night's BAFTA awards, but it can finally go to sleep at night with a clear conscience. The Church of England -- after a long and tempestuous relationship -- has at last deigned to publicly forgive Sony for turning the in-game representation of Manchester Cathedral into a digital bloodbath.

The BBC reports the Very Reverend Rogers Govender, Dean of Manchester Cathedral, waited until Resistance had failed to clinch any BAFTA awards before issuing the benediction.
