Capcom Doing Overtime to Make Resident Evil 5 Look Hot

Capcom Doing Overtime to Make Resident Evil 5 Look Hot 50°
335w ago - In an effort to achieve greater realism, Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi says his team met with clothing manufacturers to ensure authentic in-game apparel.

To quote: "The footwear and gloves the main character wears are all based on real items," said Takeuchi, in an undated interview on Capcom's Japanese site.

"We contacted the makers of those items to find out all the little details that go into making them, that way players don't have a sense of the game being completely divorced from reality."

As Takeuchi puts it, players will be able to see individual clothing fibers so that characters will breath in a more life-like fashion, presumably so the game will freak you out even more when a Zombie dog jumps through a window.

"Resident Evil 5 will occupy a unique place in the gaming world," added the veteran producer. "We are going to shock everybody."

Here's hoping it does when the game arrives on March 13, 2009 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Microsoft's Windows 7 to look like Vista

Microsoft's Windows 7 to look like Vista 300°
336w ago - Microsoft may be looking to put the mixed reception of Windows Vista behind them, but there is at least one aspect of their latest OS that they're keen to keep alive.

Last week we reported the news that Microsoft seems to have lost faith in Windows Vista and may be releasing Windows 7 earlier than originally proposed. Now the latest on the Windows 7 front is that Microsoft may have not lost as much faith in Windows Vista as originally reported; at least not in one of its most important aspects.

Whether you love or loathe the functionality (or lack thereof) of Windows Vista, the Operating System's appearance is one of its positive aspects. Large, user-friendly icons, a simplified interface, and little aesthetic touches that make menial tasks more visually engaging result in a Vista visual logic that simply makes sense.

Windows XP users can even convert the XP appearance to make their more reliable OS mimic the Vista look, and in this way can retain a positive part of Windows Vista without the host of potential negatives.

So it comes as no surprise that Microsoft hasn't moved too far away from the Windows Vista look and have instead, built on it. The above screenshot shows off the latest Windows 7 M3 Build, and it is clearly not too far removed from Windows Vista's current...

To quote: Recently we had the incredible opportunity to share with you a first look for the MAG project at the SCEA E3 Press Conference. We're thrilled with the early responses from everyone and have been amazed at all the creative speculation about the game.

If you haven't seen the news, MAG is a new online shooter coming in 2009 where up to 256 players wage battles as 8-person squads in a new and unique World. You can watch the press event here or download it from the PLAYSTATION Store.

Though it's early to talk in depth about MAG, we can definitely quell some fears we've already heard from you about how MAG will need to compromise on gameplay to support its size. Well, it may be massive but it is an action shooter at its core. You can run around and shoot enemies, throw grenades, and drive vehicles just like any other shooter except with MAG you'll do it with up to 256 players.

The team at Zipper was one of the pioneers of online gaming on consoles with the SOCOM franchise and they've used this knowledge to create...

PS3 Firmware Update v2.41 brings new look for Platinum Trophy

PS3 Firmware Update v2.41 brings new look for Platinum Trophy 100°
347w ago - It appears that today's PS3 Firmware Update v2.41 has brought along with it a new sporty-looking Platinum trophy.

While Platinum trophies used to look like a bizarre purple crown, the new version (pictured below) looks more like a sports trophy made of crystal.

To quote from Radiskull's comment HERE below:

"I've noticed 2 things with this 2.41 so far. The in-game XMB lag seems to be gone (at least for me), and the Platinum Trophy icon on the trophies page has a new look. It was previously a crown, and now it looks like a globe. Pic of it below."
