Videos: InFamous 2 PS3: Behemoth, Conduits and User Content 100°
203w ago - Today Sucker Punch Productions Brian Fleming has posted up some InFamous 2 PS3 from the Sucker Punch Studio Tour revealing Behemoth, Forced Conduits, and User-Generated Content.

To quote: Have you ever put on a wedding or a huge party? A bunch of us are in working this weekend, but it's not just the normal bug fixing, polishing, and optimizing.

Today we're hanging art, arranging some furniture, and (shudder) cleaning up our offices. All of this is being done in preparation for the 60+ media members who will be flying up to Seattle on Monday for our "Media Day" event for inFAMOUS 2.

So you can think of this as our once-every-two-years chance to spruce up the place, and put on a little bit of a show.

So here's my Virtual Media Day for you guys, a blow-by-blow breakdown of what we're showing.

In the morning we'll be hosting all the international press members on a tour of our studios in Bellevue. We will hold out some hope for good weather so we can do some interviews and photos out on the deck.

We'll turn the visitors loose on the bustling metropolis that is Bellevue, Washington and start prepping for our afternoon show. South of the Mariners stadium, we'll be hosting an evening event...

Graf Chokolo Installs Gentoo Linux on PS3 Internal HDD

Graf Chokolo Installs Gentoo Linux on PS3 Internal HDD 750°
206w ago - Today PlayStation 3 hacker Graf Chokolo has posted that he has successfully installed Gentoo Linux on the PS3 internal hard disk drive.

To quote from his update: Great news, guys I was very busy in the last days and I managed to install Gentoo on the internal HDD of PS3 Slim

I created a new VFLASH region of size 40GB and installing my Linux kernel there right now And GameOS doesn't touch this region when I boot it So you can reformat your HDD (but not VFLASH) and Linux will be still there I resized VFLASH from 256MB to about 40GB

Next steps:

• Compiling petitboot for PS3
• Installing petitboot on VFLASH
• Creating HV CFW which is capable of booting GameOS or petitboot. petitboot can boot Linux (or other OS) from HDD, FLASH, USB, CDROM or NFS (just like 3.15 did it or me on my PS3 3.41)
• Creating a more user-friendly approach for installing Linux on internal HDD

BTW, check out my new ps3stor-utils and Linux device driver ps3stormgr. It allows you to create/delete storage regions on PS3 Linux I used it to create a new VFLASH region for Linux.

Here are my Linux partitions on VFLASH:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Hits PSP March 29, 2011

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Hits PSP March 29, 2011 200°
207w ago - Today XSEED Localization Specialist Jessica Chavez has announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky hits PSP on March 29, 2011.

To quote: If an all-consuming desire for a meaty RPG replete with a shiny metal Bracer badge, soundtrack and poster* should sacrifice your wallet to the gaming gods, your PSP is ours for the next 50+ hours of your life. You will be held hostage to its crushing narrative, and YOU WILL LIKE IT.

Salutations, readers. My name is Jessica Chavez, and I have worked on such delights as Half-Minute Hero and Rune Factory: Frontier, and inserted something salacious about Pikkards into Ys I&II. I also toiled for months on the enormity that is The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, which hits the PSP on March 29, and I shall tell you about it today.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (also known affectionately as "TitS" thanks to the tender caress of the internet) is an RPG that was first released in 2004 for the PC. It gained fame and notoriety on the computer circuit by virtue of being both massive and the first 3D iteration of its kind within the Legend of Heroes series.

Fast-forward to 2011 and you now have a PSP version crammed with all the original goodness, polished to a blinding sheen...

Sony Confirms PS3 Game NGP Ports Will Be Simple and Quick

Sony Confirms PS3 Game NGP Ports Will Be Simple and Quick 550°
212w ago - According to Edge Magazine via CVG, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that PS3 game ports to NGP (Next Generation Portable) will be both simple and quick for developers.

To quote: Today, many teams are familiar with the PS3 and are used to including a variety of effects in their titles.

"Based on this expertise - and also the working habits they developed working on the PS3 - we had to make development on the NGP as natural as possible - an extension of the PS3, if you will.

"So the three demos you've seen - Lost Planet 2, Ryu Ga Gotoku [Yakuza] and MGS4 - they prove porting is simple and quick, but it doesn't mean that's all you can expect. My view of NGP isn't just as a platform for porting PS3 titles."

213w ago - Today Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video interview with Kaz Hirai on the NGP - Next Generation Portable from Sony.

To quote: The day we announced the Next Generation Portable, or NGP, was quite an eventful one.

You might have followed the live blog, read the message on the Blog from SCEA CEO Jack Tretton, seen the topics trending on Twitter (6 out of 10 worldwide at one point!), or read the hands-on impressions.

At the very end of the day, I had a chance to catch up with Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc.

While I knew I'd be unable to gather any more details than what was announced earlier in the day, I was curious about the broader aspects of the news: Why announce NGP now? Where does it fit into the PlayStation console life cycle philosophy?

How did publishing partners like Epic Games and Activision get involved in the announcement? I hope you enjoy hearing these answers in detail directly from Mr. Hirai.
