This will come with Ethernet and be fully capable of BD-Live playback, no firmware updates needed at the get-go. Unlike other BD-Live players, which require SD cards, this one comes with 4GB of internal memory for downloads."

To quote: Cooler to me are the two HDMI jacks on the back. It's a first for a Blu-ray player (or PS3), and it means you can hook up the same...

PS3 is Criterion Collection's Blu-ray player of choice 50°
August 15, 2008 // 5:44 pm - The movie experts over at the Criterion Collection, known for their Laserdiscs and DVDs of unparalleled production values, uses the PlayStation 3 as their reference Blu-ray player.

Considering their other equipment, which includes "a Denon AVR-3808CI receiver, an Axiom Epic 80/500 speaker system, an Anchor Bay DVDO VP50 Pro video processor with HD SDI option," this is quite an honor for the PS3.

No one is actually surprised by this though, even as just a plain-ol' Blu-ray player, the PS3 has been rated quite highly. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the PS3 allows for firmware...

Blu-ray Sales Rise 300% Despite Staggering US Economy 100°
July 28, 2008 // 5:04 am - PSU writes: In a beneficial turn of events for the home entertainment industry, Blu-ray sales continue to rise drastically despite the staggering U.S. economy.

As DVD sales decline, Blu-ray has been filling in the gap, generating more than $200 million in the first half of 2008. This is in stark contrast to the same point last year, where Blu-ray earnings were less than 33% of current figures.

"We are trending 8% Blu-ray sales [per title], and at the end of the year, we will be between 10% and 12%," stated Mike Dunn of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
