New Haze Screenshots for PS3

500°
363w ago - Haze, Ubisoft's new first-person shooter, is preparing to ship for PlayStation 3 in May. While Free Radical puts the finishing touches on the game, though, they're slowly releasing new in-game screenshots for Haze. You can see the five newest Haze screenshots below.

Quick game overview: Haze is a first-person shooter set in a harsh future where war is never quite what it seems. Gamers play both sides of the same war, either as an armed-to-the-teeth and Nectar-induced Mantel soldier, or as a cunning and think-on-the-fly Promise Hand rebel.

These new Haze screenshots provide a glimpse of playing as a Promise Hand rebel, with rebel-exclusive gameplay mechanics, weaponry and vehicular combat. You can click on any of the PS3 screenshots below to see it in high resolution.

Taking down the Land Carrier will require a full force land attack in a furious effort to strike a major blow to Mantel's presence, pic below and more screenshots can be seen at the link at the top of this article!

363w ago - Update: Per Jeff Rubenstein (Social Media Manager, PlayStation Blog): In case you were wondering what it's all about, the operating stability of some online PS3 titles has been improved. Hope that clears things up!

It's now official- Sony has indeed skipped a retail release of PS3 Firmware 2.15 (Debug) in lieu of PS3 Firmware Update 2.17 which is out now via Network Update or below!

Download: PS3 FW Update 2.17 (US) / PS3 FW Update 2.17 (EU)

There isn't an official changelog available yet, but it appears to be primarily a bugfix update at this time.

Also, for what it's worth a little birdie told us Sony Devs already have 2.20 so perhaps another quick update will follow soon? :P

Analysis: Take Two financials

50°
363w ago - Take-Two reported a relatively weak quarter, posting a loss in the holiday quarter for the third consecutive year.

While new management is not to blame for the poor results, we think the weak performance reflects the extent of the turnaround required to restore the company to profitability.
Take-Two's bottom line results were slightly better than we expected, with lower than expected R&D and marketing expenses accounting for most of the EPS upside.

On the top line, revenues were higher than expected due to significant contribution from the company's distribution business. The company's margins were slightly lower than we expected due to a higher mix of distribution revenues.

We think that it is important to point out that U.S. industry software sales have grown by over 58% from the November 2005 - January 2006 period through the November 2007 - January 2008 period, while Take-Two's publishing revenues have declined by almost 23%.

This is clearly a company that is losing market share, and as we review the lineup for the balance of 2008 and 2009, we see more of the same type of games we have seen over the last three years. The company's sports lineup continues to underperform, generating only $32 million of sales (26% of publishing revenues) for the key holiday...

How Do You Feel About There Being No GTA IV Episodic Content for PS3?

650°
363w ago - How do you feel about the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV not receiving the downloadable content that the Xbox 360 will be receiving?

Microsoft previously mentioned the two downloadable episodic content they payed Rockstar $50 million to receive will equal the size of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas.

A recent preview in the latest issue (April 2008) of PlayStation:

The Official Magazine stated that Rockstar's Jeronimo Barrera said the PlayStation 3 will most likely receive it's own form of downloadable content as well. However, a new Take-Two release states that the Xbox 360 will be receiving it's downloadable content in 2008, and they plan on issuing more content for (most likely) both consoles in 2009. That means the PlayStation 3 will never see those San Andreas and Vice City sized pieces of episodic content.

If you would like to know how I feel, I'll tell you. I'm not just a blogger, I'm a proud PlayStation 3 owner as well, and will be picking up Grand Theft Auto IV for PlayStation 3 no matter what. Seeing as how San Andreas and Vice City went to Xbox, I see that it's only right Rockstar does the same with these two new pieces of episodic content (possibly Bully as well). So I guess as we near the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, you can take it that...
