Enemy Territory: Quake Wars with some Graphics Issues!

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars with some Graphics Issues! 50°
359w ago - Nearly eight months after the PC release, Underground Studios and Splash Damage are set to release Enemy Territory: Quake Wars on the PlayStation 3 late next month.

After a full day at Activision's press event on Tuesday, PSU received hands on with both the versions of the title, going in excited, coming out disappointed.

First things first, Activision has given an official release date of May 27 in North America, with Korean and European versions to ship shortly after. Studio CTO at Underground Development Bill Chin said, "You can expect Korean and European versions to ship within a few weeks after the U.S. release, with Japan probably being the last [to receive the game].

For those not familiar with Enemy Territory, the game is an objective based team multiplayer, pitting humans versus an alien race known as the Strogg. The title features a single player campaign were players must follow a list of objectives moving from one area to another and destroying hordes of enemy bots. Then on the multiplayer side of things, players can fight online via PlayStation Network, or through LAN with up to 16 players.

Compared to the PC version, multiplayer is nearly the same, featuring all the same maps, weapons, and vehicles. Gamers picking up the PS3 version will see a few new features...

Kojima disappointed with Metal Gear Solid 4

Kojima disappointed with Metal Gear Solid 4 50°
359w ago - Looks like Kojima Jr. isn't the only one disappointed with Metal Gear Solid. The latest issue of the UK's Edge magazine contains an interview with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who expresses disappointment with the latest game in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It isn't so much the gameplay itself as it is the graphics.

"Game-wise, it's pretty close to the original vision: you sneak into the battlefield and can choose whether to do a stealth game or interfere with the battle more directly. But the graphic, side things like motion-blending and the size of the map, totally was not accomplished to my original vision - to my satisfaction.

Now Kojima is a well-known perfectionist, but it is a bit disturbing to see him voice his dissatisfaction with what is supposed to be the masterpiece of the franchise. So where does he lay the blame for not fully realizing his vision?

"When we first showed the game engine at TGS, the staff were really proud and happy. PS3 was a dream machine, y'know, and we were going to work on this and that - and we had so many ideas. But when we actually started developing the game, we realized there were a lot of restrictions and so it turned out how you see it today. The original vision was to go ten steps further, the reality was just one...

The year of the PS3?

The year of the PS3? 50°
359w ago - Is the era of the X-Box over already, almost before it began? Premature ejaculation of fanboy glee, a beautiful moment but over in a flash, with nothing but a mess and disappointed people left in its wake?

A little look at what the experts say on the subject certainly tells us so. An article on Joystiq's PS3 Fanboy gives 10 reasons why the PS3 is back in the swing of things.

EGM and EDGE have both within the last four months run cover stories on the return of the PS3 – titled "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Revenge of the PS3″ (which if nothing else, tells us that The Force Unleashed is going to have good sales) and some analysts have predicted that the PS3 will do at least as well as the 360 this year, and some have gone so far as to say that it's going to edge out the unstoppable Wii by 2011.

In terms of general PR too the PS3 has been doing great, with the Human Genome Project and then the USAF taking a cartload of PS3s definitely counting towards publicity. Without even considering the Wii then, in terms of general publicity, the image of the PS3 has never been better, while MS is has to deal with issues like the RRoD, which just looks plain silly. And lets not forget the other issues with the hardware too, from misaligned drives to lens issues.

If that doesn't...

CoD4 sells over 9 million copies and breaks DLC Records

CoD4 sells over 9 million copies and breaks DLC Records 50°
359w ago - According to the NPD figures which were released today, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has officially sold over 9 Million copies worldwide since it's release!

In addition, the Variety Map Pack we recently released on Xbox Live and soon to be released on PS3 in a week; has broke Xbox Live Marketplace records pulling down over 1 Million downloads within it's first 9 days. Not to mention pulling down Xbox Live Marketplace in the process when it launched.

Some cool numbers we pulled recently to see just how much gameplay that actually is, shows that Xbox LIVE members played more than 30 million sessions and logged over 30 million hours of gameplay!! We're talking 1.9 billion minutes logged in the first 9 days!!

If you don't have the Variety Map Pack yet it's currently available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 MS Points and will be hitting the PSN store starting April 24th (US) or May 4th (EU) for $9.99 and includes four new multiplayer maps.

I knew we had a huge loyal community and it's always cool to pull specific numbers to quantify just HOW large it actually is. Also, don't forget tomorrow night is the Xbox LIVE Fire Weekend for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare where you can play with the team here at Infinity Ward and myself from 3 - 6 pm PST (6 - 9 pm EST) as well...
