GTA IV Gone Gold - Already in Transit!

GTA IV Gone Gold - Already in Transit! 50°
359w ago - Say so long to those delay rumors. While word has yet to come on whether Take-Two will accede to Electronic Arts' $2 billion acquisition offer, one scenario that will not occur is analysts' speculated delay of Grand Theft Auto IV.

During Take-Two's shareholders' meeting today, the publisher said that GTAIV has gone gold. The game is "in production and in trucks en route to retailers," proclaimed Take-Two CEO Ben Feder. Rated M for Mature, GTAIV will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 29.

Though it won't be released for another 12 days, industry watchers have already projected a massive debut from the next installment in Rockstar North's prized franchise. Last October, Janco Partner's Mike Hickey projected global opening-week sales of more than 9.5 million, with 5.8 million units turning up in US consumers' hands alone.

Earlier this week, Variety reported that sources within Take-Two fully expect the game to sell some 6 million units in its opening week, generating revenue in excess of $400 million.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars with some Graphics Issues!

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars with some Graphics Issues! 50°
359w ago - Nearly eight months after the PC release, Underground Studios and Splash Damage are set to release Enemy Territory: Quake Wars on the PlayStation 3 late next month.

After a full day at Activision's press event on Tuesday, PSU received hands on with both the versions of the title, going in excited, coming out disappointed.

First things first, Activision has given an official release date of May 27 in North America, with Korean and European versions to ship shortly after. Studio CTO at Underground Development Bill Chin said, "You can expect Korean and European versions to ship within a few weeks after the U.S. release, with Japan probably being the last [to receive the game].

For those not familiar with Enemy Territory, the game is an objective based team multiplayer, pitting humans versus an alien race known as the Strogg. The title features a single player campaign were players must follow a list of objectives moving from one area to another and destroying hordes of enemy bots. Then on the multiplayer side of things, players can fight online via PlayStation Network, or through LAN with up to 16 players.

Compared to the PC version, multiplayer is nearly the same, featuring all the same maps, weapons, and vehicles. Gamers picking up the PS3 version will see a few new features...

Kojima disappointed with Metal Gear Solid 4

Kojima disappointed with Metal Gear Solid 4 50°
359w ago - Looks like Kojima Jr. isn't the only one disappointed with Metal Gear Solid. The latest issue of the UK's Edge magazine contains an interview with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who expresses disappointment with the latest game in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It isn't so much the gameplay itself as it is the graphics.

"Game-wise, it's pretty close to the original vision: you sneak into the battlefield and can choose whether to do a stealth game or interfere with the battle more directly. But the graphic, side things like motion-blending and the size of the map, totally was not accomplished to my original vision - to my satisfaction.

Now Kojima is a well-known perfectionist, but it is a bit disturbing to see him voice his dissatisfaction with what is supposed to be the masterpiece of the franchise. So where does he lay the blame for not fully realizing his vision?

"When we first showed the game engine at TGS, the staff were really proud and happy. PS3 was a dream machine, y'know, and we were going to work on this and that - and we had so many ideas. But when we actually started developing the game, we realized there were a lot of restrictions and so it turned out how you see it today. The original vision was to go ten steps further, the reality was just one...
