Video: Crash Testing Gran Turismo 5's Car Damage Feature 300°
September 19, 2009 // 5:40 pm - Apart from looking good, Gran Turismo 5 will hold the distinction of being the first game in the series to feature visual damage modelling on Sony's PlayStation 3 console.

The question is, how far will Polyphony Digital let us go in damaging our rides in the game?

Nintendo Hires Anti-piracy Guru to Combat R4 Card Sales 300°
August 29, 2009 // 4:32 pm - Nintendo has hired anti-piracy guru Neil Boyd from Warner Bros. in a move to keep the Nintendo DS R4 Card from being sold at both online and offline retailers.

Boyd claims Nintendo has no problem in hurting companies who still sell flash carts for the DS console, to quote:

He warned online and High Street stores who are still selling the R4 device that Nintendo had "more eyes and ears" than ever on the street - and would be swift to issue cease and desist notices.

PlayStation Network Cards Selling in Game Cases in Europe 550°
August 23, 2009 // 11:55 pm - It appears Sony Europe has money to burn, as they will be selling PlayStation Network Cards in standard Blu-ray game cases in Europe.

They will be available in September, in both £20 and £50 denominations.

To quote: "PlayStation Network Cards are, for some, the only way to add credit easily to your PlayStation Network wallet.

The idea is simple - purchase a PlayStation Network Card from a shop, enter the 12-digit code and fill up your Store wallet.

The odd thing? SCEE will be using real plastic Blu-ray boxes to house them in, presumably...

Sony's PS3 Slim Carries Updated Cell Chip, 45nm Cell Processor 500°
August 20, 2009 // 3:23 pm - IBM have revealed that the new PS3 Slim carries a revised version of the Cell processor.

The electronics giant have confirmed that the Slim's new Cell is "manufactured using an advanced 45-nanometer manufacturing process" that will deliver "many performance improvements while drawing less power than earlier chips".

These chips are obviously cheaper to produce and, in part, are responsible for the smaller and more power effective PlayStation SKUs.
