Rumor: Looming PS4 cycle real reason for Harrison's departure?

200°
342w ago - Our ears are so close to the ground they're all mossy. Highly placed sources said today that the real reason for Phil Harrison's departure from Sony was that work is now starting on PS4 and deja vu was setting in.

"He could see he was about to get involved in another PlayStation cycle, and obviously wanted something new," we were told. "The same thing was happening again and he'd been through it enough times to want to move on."

The timing of Harrison's decision to leave Sony confused many, given that PS3 was finally starting to bloom after a troubled seedling period. The PlayStation front-man announced he was to quit in February, giving no reason for the move.

He immediately joined Infogrames as president, saying he was finding the company's focus on casual gaming and an increased influence on internet business models "very exciting".

Bet PS4 doesn't have two HDMI ports either! :P

Uncharted Trophies Patch released for PAL Territories only

342w ago - Update: The patch is now available in North America too!

Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment have just released a 13MB file v1.01 patch for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, which enables Trophy support for the title.

Here are the details on the Trophy system:

-There will be 48 Trophies in Uncharted; 47 Trophies for finding treasures, participating in hand-to-hand or gun combat etc, one platinum Trophy for unlocking all other Trophies
-The Trophies are tied to the medal rewards which already exist in Uncharted
-It's not possible to attain all Trophies in one playthrough
-To earn Trophies, you must start a new game without any medals or rewards unlocked (if Trophies could be earned retroactively, cheating could occur)
-No other additions or changes outside of Trophies are in the patch

Looks like it's time to pop Uncharted back in the PS3.

Hackers taking over latest Mario Kart Wii tournament

50°
343w ago - The newest Mario Kart Wii tournament went live a few days ago, but unfortunately, some participants took it upon themselves to hack their way to the top. Two racers have submitted ludicrous times - 0.004 and 0.609 seconds.

Immediately upon looking at these results, one would quickly surmise that the results would not have been able to have been achieved through ethical means. Also, one of the hackers has gone so far as to dawn the name "ihack@you."

This is not the first time the Mario Kart Wii online system has been hacked. Previously, people began to exploit the Time Trials system to earn impossible times.

Nintendo was able to root out and take care of cheaters, so it is expected that Nintendo will take similar action with this latest issue.

AutoStart PRX v4 Plug-In for M33 CFW for PSP released!

50°
345w ago - Roe-ur-boat has released an update to AutoStart PRX, a 4.01 M33 compatible Custom Firmware plug-in that allows users to specify a number of separate homebrew applications to load at launch. Each application can be bind to certain key. When that key is held during bootup, the PSP will automatically load your homebrew.

Now at version 4, users can bypass the autoboot system by leaving WLAN switch on while booting. Other notable changes include support for autoexecuting PSone games at startup and a redesigned configuration interface. As always, the full changelog is available below.

Download: AutoStart PRX v4 Plug-In for M33 CFW for PSP

Changelog:

* You can now bypass the autoboot by putting the WLAN switch up.
* You can launch PSX games now too.
* Rewrote the configurator and the configuration file parser. Configurator looks better and is more user friendly. (Thanks to Mc Cabe for * the background)
PRX size decreased thanks to recoding and psp-packer.
* No need to enable the prx for game.txt now.
