Video: Final Fantasy XIII PS3 E3 Trailer, Doesn't Support 1080p? 400°
June 2, 2009 // 9:33 pm - For awhile now, 1080p has been a topic of great Internet debate as it relates to the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII.

In fact, one doesn't have to look for too long via Google search to realize that there is still division as to whether FFXIII supports 1080p.

The debate ranges to everything from the usual non-specific 'hell yes' or 'hell no' responses, right through to in-depth technical jargon as to whether it is indeed presented in 1080p native (believed to be the best HD quality) or whether it's merely presented in upscaled 720p format (ala Metal Gear Solid 4).

April 5, 2009 // 1:02 pm - Just before the weekend, slouken posted (linked above) the following PS3 Linux SDL video support patch news:

Hello. This patch provides basic support for video on the Sony PS3 Linux framebuffer.

Scaling, format-conversion, and drawing is done from the SPEs, so there is little performance impact to PPE applications.

This is by no means production quality code, but it is a very good start and a good example of how to use the PS3's hardware capabilities to accelerate video playback on the box.

The driver has been verified to work with ffplay,...

April 3, 2009 // 8:16 pm - According to reports, the PSP is showing significant profits for Sony over previous years.

In Q1 of 2009, PSP hardware sales are up 75% from last year and software sales are up over 20%. Despite this growth, many are worried as it's yet to catch up to PS3 or even PS2's formidable numbers.

Huh... That's kinda weird. Like myself, you've probably noticed that when you visit your favorite retailer, the PSP section has been getting smaller and smaller.

This appears...

March 29, 2009 // 11:53 am - If Valve is the anti-PS3, then meet the slightly less but ultimately anti-360 developer. Konami has been making the rounds lately with their teasing announcement of the next Metal Gear Solid.

The rumors have already begun flying on whether the game will focus solely on Raiden or if it will be set between the main games of the series. In short, it's doing just what every MGS game has done before and it hasn't even been revealed yet.

Though it wasn't blatantly spelled out, it's most definite that the company will continue providing their most A-list titles to consoles other...
