DrinkBox Studios: Guacamelee! Rolls Onto PS3 and PS Vita Today

100°
99w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith announced alongside a launch trailer video that Guacamelee rolls onto PS3 and PS Vita today.

To quote: I'm extra excited to announce that Guacamelee! comes out today on PS3 and PS Vita via PSN.

We're releasing the game as part of the Spring Fever promotion: $14.99 will get you both the PS3 and PS Vita versions, with a 20% discount for PlayStation Plus members.

Still there? Then allow me to add that Guacamelee! is a metroid-vania style brawler that supports Cross-Buy, Cross-Save, Cross-Control, has a precious Platinum trophy, and comes complete with rapid punching action.

Punch, punch, punch! Speaking of which, you may now be saying, "Hey guy, what's up with all of the punch talk?" Take a look...

Well, when we started making Guacamelee! we knew we wanted to include punching, but not just ordinary punching. We built a proof-of-concept demo, a video of which I have included below for your approval.

As you can see, we had blocking, we had holds, and we had charge-up moves. You'll be interested to know that we now have none of those things! Why, you ask?

Video: Tearaway: Unfold a New Adventure October 22 on PS Vita

100°
99w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford has shared a fresh Tearaway video today inviting fans to unfold a new adventure this coming October 22 on PS Vita.

To quote: Tearaway will be available on shelves and on PSN October 22nd! We can't wait for you to get your hands on, and indeed in, our new game at the end of the year.

In Tearaway you'll journey through a vibrant, living papery world, with a plucky messenger who has a unique message to deliver - to you!

As the papery world of Tearaway unfolds in your hands, you'll be able to use your god-like powers to help your new messenger friend, iota or atoi, complete their very special delivery.

You'll uncover a magical dimension inspired by folklore, and built realistically from paper that unfolds and comes alive before your very eyes. As you explore this world you'll meet the papercraft creatures that live within it, help out strange new friends and encounter dangerous challenges.

We've designed the world of Tearaway to blend with our own through the unique features of the PS Vita, which allow you to help your messenger buddy to solve puzzles using the power of touch, literally breathe new life into this papercraft land, and reach up into the world using the rear-touch panel to see your fingertips appear inside...

New Sony PS3 and PSN Releases for the Week of April 8th, 2013

50°
99w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Rey Gutierrez is here with the new Sony PS3, PS Vita and PSN releases for the upcoming week today, as follows:

Cross-Buy Guacamelee! for PS3 and PS Vita on PSN this week. Guacamelee! draws its inspiration from traditional Mexican culture and folklore, and features many interesting and unique characters.

The game also blurs the boundaries between combat and platforming by making many of the moves useful and necessary for both of these.

The game features a down on his luck Mexican named Juan Aguacate, who sets out to save the world when El Presidente's Daughter is kidnapped by an Evil Charro Skeleton.

The story takes place in and around a small village in Mexico, and has the player travelling between parallel dimensions on his quest to rescue the girl he loves. Enjoy this week's The Drop.

Guacamelee! (Cross-Buy PS3/PS Vita) - Guacamelee is a Metroidvania style game with a light world/dark world component where you play as a luchador. The game can be played entirely cooperatively with the first player controlling Juan and the second playing a woman known as Tostada.

The combat consists of melee attacks, as the name suggests, such as punches, grapples and throws. There are also other moves you learn to...

Sony Announces Divekick: A Tale of Two Buttons for PSN and PS Vita

50°
100w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill has announced today that Divekick: A Tale of Two Buttons is coming for both PS3 via PSN and PS Vita consoles.

To quote: If you follow the fighting game community, you probably already know all about Divekick. If not, take a moment to read this intro post from Iron Galaxy to get up to speed.

Talk of Divekick at GDC last week was impossible to ignore, but how does it actually play? The game's minimalist design invites skepticism, but rest assured: this is a deeper, more addictive experience that you might imagine.

Divekick shrugs off the fighting game genre's longstanding barriers, creating a sleek, streamlined competitive experience - it's the primordial essence of what makes fighting games fun.

This is a game about outsmarting and outmaneuvering your opponent. Gone are complex input commands, phalangeal acrobatics, and superhuman timing windows. There are only two buttons: Dive and Kick. You won't be using the D-pad or analog stick. You can't block.

You can't even move... at least, not traditionally. To advance towards your opponent you tap Dive (a vertical leap), then Kick to propel your fighter feet-first.

A tap of the Kick button while on the ground results an evasive hop backward. Connecting...
