Sony Clarifies PSP2 Rumors: No New Hardware Dev Kits Available

100°
313w ago - Sony's head of PSP marketing in North America would only confirm that part of what longtime developer Dave Perry recently said about the PSP's future is true.

The following is an excerpt from an interview I conducted today with Sony Computer Entertainment of America's John Koller, the director of PSP marketing in North America.

I originally booked the phone interview with Koller to discuss the stunning line-up of PSP games Sony announced earlier this week, but by the time we talked, there was the PSP2 rumor to discuss that had been churning through the Internet ever since veteran game designer Dave Perry Twittered that a disc-free PSP2 was in the works for a possible fall release.

I'll have a lot more from Koller about the new games and the future of the PSP on Friday, but let's start here by dealing with the Dave Perry rumor. This is how I broached the topic:

MTV Multiplayer: Do you still consider Dave Perry a friend?

John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for the PSP: [laughs] That's a great question! I didn't even know who he was until about a month ago. I heard about [his PSP2 report] yesterday. We've never...

SCEE Boss Not Sure if PS3 Will Last its 10-Year Lifespan

250°
313w ago - One of Sony's main arguments to defend against the Xbox 360 is the PlayStation 3's longevity. They once even said that the console is future-proof, and will last longer than the PS2 will.

But now, even SCEE prez David Reeves isn't sure the console will go completely through its supposed 10-year lifespan, saying:

The competition will have new models on the market by the end of the PS3. I have no doubt and we'll have to be fast on our feet... I don't know whether the PS3 lifespan will be eight, nine or ten years.

He does add though, that the PlayStation 4 is not "on the horizon" yet. And it really shouldn't be - even Microsoft's Robbie Bachexpects this generation to last longer than previous ones.

New Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust Hits PS3 in April, 2009

100°
314w ago - Codemasters is planning to publish Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, the latest game in the adult-themed adventure series for Sony's PS3, the XBox 360 and PC.

The title was a previous Vivendi Games release, but the merger of that company with Activision to form Activision Blizzard left that title, like so many others orphened.

To quote: While the publisher has yet to send out a press release, the game is now listed on the company's official Web site as coming out this April for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 with a "M" rating from the ESRB.

Develoed by Team 17, the game as you playing the original Larry's nephew Larry Lovage as he helps his uncle in the movie business. According to the header on the Codemasters game page the new Larry title will be handled by Codemasters' casual game label Funsta.

Game details: The original Larry is now a movie mogul, but he's got a problem... the studio across the road always seem to know what he's making: there must be a mole in the studio! Uncle Larry turns to you, his nephew, Larry Lovage - to solve the mystery, after all, no-one would suspect a guy working in the mail room right?

You must uncover the identity of the mole... the very existence of the studio depends upon...
