Square Enix Reveals Final Fantasy XIII-2 PS3 and Release Date

180w ago - Following up on their Final Fantasy X HD PS3 and PS Vita announcement from this year's Tokyo Game show, Square Enix have also revealed a Final Fantasy XIII-2 PS3 and release date today.

Similar to the White Final Fantasy 13 PS3 Bundle, the Final Fantasy XIII-2 PlayStation 3 Lightning Edition version 2 console's character design is also done by Tetsuya Nomura.

To quote from Andriasang.com (linked above): "Square Enix announced today a final release date of December 15 for Final Fantasy XIII-2. Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will be priced 7,980.

The PS3 version will also be released as part of a hardware bundle called 'PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy XIII-2 Lightning Edition Ver. 2.' Priced 37,960, this includes a 320 gigabyte hard drive.

Overseas, the game will be released in North America and Asia on January 31. The European release is set for February 3. Square Enix did not say if the special PS3 will be released outside of Japan."
 

Final Fantasy X HD for PS3 and PS Vita Announced at TGS 2011

180w ago - Today Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy X HD will be heading to both PS3 and PS Vita at TGS 2011.

According to Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto during Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, the PlayStation 3 and Vita update is being created in celebration of the game's tenth anniversary.

Unfortunately, neither a release date nor Final Fantasy X HD gameplay footage is available yet.

To quote from GamingEverything.com (linked above): "A representative said that development is progressing, but didn't share any actual details. He told fans to be patient for updates.

For those wondering, the project will be a HD port/enhancement of the PlayStation 2 title."
 

Sony Announces New LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3 Packs Coming Soon

191w ago - On this July 4th holiday SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has announced some new LittleBigPlanet 2 Packs incoming, including inFAMOUS 2, Toy Story, and FINAL FANTASY VII!

To quote: Over the next two months we've got some pretty darned cool LittleBigPlanet 2 DLC packs heading your way.

I'm sure you've noticed the title of this post, so let's not delay any further - from the depths of Midgar, I'm delighted to unveil...the FINAL FANTASY VII costume pack!

Video: Tokita on Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection, RPGs

206w ago - Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared a video today featuring Square Enix's Takashi Tokita speaking on Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection and PSP RPG games.

To quote: Takashi Tokita is a name well respected among Square Enix fans, having helmed classic RPGs from Parasite Eve (newly resurrected for PSN) to Chrono Trigger.

Now he's overseeing the restoration of one of the earliest games of his career with Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection, coming to PSP on April 19th.

On the cusp of Final Fantasy IV's 20-year anniversary, Tokita explained his goals for The Complete Collection. The basic expectations are well and truly met: You'll get remastered high-res artwork that takes full advantage of the PSP's widescreen display, eye-catching new 3D special effects, an updated English translation, and two soundtrack options.

Also, for the first time in North America, FFIV will be presented in its pure, uncensored form, which will primarily translate to a few skimpier outfits and a handful of mature references omitted from previous releases.

206w ago - Square Enix Head of Public Relations Sonia Im has shared some new video footage today as part of a Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy: EX Burst PSP Tour.

To quote: With DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY out this week, I thought I'd share some videos that show the various EX Burst attacks. You can watch them below!

But first: what is an EX Burst? EX Burst is equivalent of a super move in a game like Street Fighter. Each character has a special move which you'll recognize from their original game. During the EX burst, you'll have to input several button cues but each is customized for each unique character.

For example, Tifa's EX Burst features the same slot reels for her Limit Break in Final Fantasy VII. For Tidus, you'd have to align the cursor in the target zone like his Overdrive attack in Final Fantasy X.





For Squall, you'll have to pull the trigger just like in Final Fantasy XIII. The more successful you are with the button cues, the more devastating the attack.





The EX system is actually more than a special move because, during battle, you'll have to fill up a meter called the EX gauge. Once...
