148w ago - Mortal Kombat Producer Hector Sanchez has announced alongside posting up the launch trailer that Mortal Kombat officially hits PS Vita today!

To quote: Developing new and inventive missions for the Bonus Challenge Tower was something our talented Design team at Netherrealm Studios jumped at.

It allowed us to not only come up with unique and innovative scenarios that took advantage of the numerous PS Vita features (such as the touchscreen and the accelerometer), but also a long-awaited opportunity to create challenges based around the DLC characters that released after the launch of the PS3 version. Yes, that means Freddy Krueger missions!

With Mortal Kombat finally emerging today on PS Vita game card and via PSN, our designers at NetherRealm Studios wanted to share some of their favorite missions from the all-new Challenge Tower. We hope you guys have just as much fun playing through these missions as we had making them.

These missions are really fun! We give the player very little info on how to pass the mission hence the "Figure It Out" title....

Video: StarDrone Extreme Launches for PlayStation Vita Today

150w ago - Beatshapers CEO Alexey Menshikov has announced that StarDrone Extreme is launching on PlayStation Vita today in the US (next week in Europe) alongside a video trailer below.

To quote: Alexey Menshikov (Beatshapers) and Andriy Sharanevych (Orb Games) here.

We are super excited to announce that long-awaited StarDrone Extreme for PlayStation Vita will be released today.

For those of you not familiar with what StarDrone Extreme is about, here's a brief: you pilot the always-in-motion spaceship through diverse cosmic environments in order to beat each of the game's 60 levels' goals. Goals can range from getting to the end of the level, to destroying all enemies, to collecting certain items.

Each level starts by aiming and shooting yourself into the outer space from a cannon. Your spaceship is always in motion from this point on, and it's your job to attach to nearby gravity beacons to navigate your flight path.

While tethered to a beacon, you can swing and attempt to circle the beacon until you release and slingshot yourself further. This core mechanic allowed us to bring together elements of shoot 'em up, pinball,...

Videos: The Pinball Arcade Scores on PS3 and PS Vita Today

100°
151w ago - FarSight Studios Lead Designer Bobby King has shared some new video footage of The Pinball Arcade, which scores on both the PS3 and PS Vita console today!

To quote: With the PS3 and PS Vita launches of The Pinball Arcade on PSN this week, I thought that I'd share a few more details about our game and offer some general gameplay tips.

The launch tables include one from each of the four major manufactures that we've licensed. Tales of the Arabian Nights (Williams), Ripley's Believe It or Not (Stern), Theatre of Magic (Bally), and Black Hole (Gottlieb).

Tales and Black Hole were part of the Pinball Hall of Fame games. We've spent a lot of time improving the physics and the graphics of our pinball engine over the past few years, so we feel that they're definitely worthy of updating.

When we first made the Gottlieb collection we gathered references from the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. We took a lot of pictures, recorded the audio with microphones, and took notes on the rules along with gameplay video reference. We actually re-programmed all of the rules from scratch.

That was a huge challenge! Now, we buy all of the tables and take them apart. Plus, we now have a bunch of physics...

Video: World Gone Sour on PSN Today, Stars The Sour Patch Kids

100°
151w ago - Beefy Media Executive Producer Adam Boyes has posted up a video announcing that World Gone Sour hits PSN today starring the Sour Patch Kids.

To quote: If you could ask the candy that you eat what its lifelong goals are, what would it say? Would it tell you that it wants to be an astronaut? Drive in the Indy 500? Run a marathon?

Probably not. If you asked a Sour Patch Kid that question, the answer would be this: To make it to the human belly, their sweet rapture.

And that, my friends, is the premise of our new video game World Gone Sour starring the sweet-then-sour candy, Sour Patch Kids.

We took that premise, added Creed Bratton from NBC's "The Office" as our "sometimes sweet and sometimes sour" narrator, got Wu-Tang's own Method Man to create a custom song included in the game, and set out to make a ridiculously fun game for you to enjoy.

World Gone Sour is a puzzle platformer made by the incredibly talented team at Playbrains (makers of the PSN-exclusive game Sideway where you play as an inch-high candy in a twisted miniature world where you play through sticky movie theatre floors, across sizzling hamburger grills, through a psychotic doll house, and over razor sharp buzz saws.
