Capcom Set to Release PS1 Classics on PlayStation Network

Capcom Set to Release PS1 Classics on PlayStation Network 350°
311w ago - As you may or may not know, the Capcom support for their classic PS1 titles on the PSN has, well, been quite lackluster.

They only have Street Fighter Alpha on the store. Well, it seems there might be more content coming soon.

When Christian Svensson, strategic planning & business development VP of Capcom was asked whether or not Capcom would be adding more games to the store, he had this to say on Capcom Unity:

"The first PS1 titles for PSN were submitted last week... when I have some dates for them, we'll let you know"

So far, Capcom only has one PS1 game in its classics roster: Street Fighter Alpha - excluding the HD remix of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.

The ESRB has hinted at Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3 coming to PSN for some time now, but these might not be the titles Svensson is currently referring to. Perhaps we'll see more Resident Evil games on PSN like in Japan.

Capcom Announces Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for Wii

Capcom Announces Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for Wii 100°
312w ago - Today Capcom has officially announced the details on Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for the Wii, just a day before the Xbox 360 and PS3 release of Resident Evil 5.

It's a follow up to the Wii shooter, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. In addition, Capcom will be re-releasing Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero exclusively on the Wii platform.

Here are all the details from Capcom:

"We are very excited to be bringing the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles to the Wii as it's the perfect fit for the platform," said Mona Hamilton, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. "

We are always looking for new ways to give Capcom fans a chance to experience our games. Umbrella Chronicles was a huge success for us, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles includes a more in-depth co-op experience, and we are excited to bring this exclusive content to the Wii audience."

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles's story is based on Resident Evil 2 and includes the popular characters, Leon S Kenney and Claire Redfield. Its on-rails style gameplay and active camera will create a more immersive "Chronicles" survival experience. As in the last installment, this is a first-person game with extreme shooting gameplay and interactive...

Capcom Top Secret XBox 360 Game Revealed - Lost Planet 2

Capcom Top Secret XBox 360 Game Revealed - Lost Planet 2 50°
314w ago - Last week we reported on a new game announcement incoming from Capcom. They were to reveal the game through a download exclusively on Xbox LIVE.

That teaser is now available for download. You can find the 436mb download HERE to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Get downloading and as soon as we know what all the fuss is about, we'll let you know.

The secret game is, as expected, Lost Planet 2. We knew that the game was coming in 2009, and as is the case with the recently announced Dead Rising 2, we expect it to be a multiplatform title, especially since Lost Planet was eventually released for the PlayStation 3.

So what have we learnt from the trailer? Well there's a whole load of gameplay footage to watch, with the game being powered by Capcom's proprietary engine, the MT-FrameWork 2.0. The game will include significant climate change, meaning that the snow has now melted, revealing lush jungles.

Kenji Oguro is the game's director, with Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi turning...

Capcom Delays Street Fighter IV on PC Due to Piracy Concerns

Capcom Delays Street Fighter IV on PC Due to Piracy Concerns 400°
315w ago - While the PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers were enjoying the long awaited release of Street Fighter IV, the PC gaming community fell victim to Capcom's anti-piracy strategy.

Capcom believes they can reduce piracy on the PC by releasing the PC version of the game months after the console. This policy has failed as it would seem.

Entering "Street Fighter IV" into a torrent search engine results in numerous images of the 360's Street Fighter IV disc with thousands of downloads already completed. To add insult to injury, some of these copies went up online before the game's launch date!

Even though the anti-piracy tactic has failed, it seems like PC gamers must endure the wait a little while longer. If Best Buy's Pre Order page is correct that wait ends May 15th. For Capcom's sake they better hope that the hype of the game lasts till that point.

I for one am interested. I wonder if they high piracy rate of the XBox 360 version of the game will result in a change in Capcom's policy on piracy? It should be obvious to them now that their piracy concerns should extend beyond the PC versions of their games.

Beyond all the piracy the game seem to be selling very well. On the first day of its release it was sold out in Japan. In the USA the Collectors edition of the game was...
