Video: Pinball Meets RPG in Rollers of the Realm by Atlus, Details

100°
21w ago - Atlus PR Manager John Hardin announced today that Pinball meets RPG in Rollers of the Realm with a video and details below.

To quote: Okay, so maybe you've heard of Rollers of the Realm, the Pinball RPG from ATLUS and Phantom Compass; and maybe you even know that it's going to be cross buy for PS4 and PS Vita for just $9.99.

But what I'm sure you're still unclear on is "how the heck will this game work?" Well, fortunately for you, we put together this handy little guide for the good folks at PlayStation.Blog.

First, the basics: Rollers of the Realm blends the physics-based gameplay of pinball with all your favorite RPG mechanics. And we're not joking, you have a whole party of characters that have unique abilities (in the form of pinballs, naturally).

For example, your Rogue - who can steal gold from villagers or deal backstab damage on foes - is the lightest pinball in your arsenal and can be used to squeeze through tight spaces to unlock hidden areas. She also can summon her canine companion, that acts as a multiball to really clear out enemies quickly.

In contrast, there is the larger, heavier, drunken Knight who is less... accurate, but can smash through boxes or other barriers to...

The Talos Principle on PS4: When Story Meets Puzzle

50°
34w ago - Writer Tom Jubert outlines When Story Meets Puzzle in The Talos Principle on PS4 today with details below, to quote:

Hello. I'm Tom Jubert, one of the writers on The Talos Principle for PS4, and I'm here to tell you a bit about the game because the other guys are lazy busy with finishing it.

Announced during the PlayStation press conference at E3 in June, The Talos Principle is a first-person philosophical puzzler from Croteam, the guys behind the Serious Sam games. It's a bit atmospheric, a bit sci-fi, and a proper challenge if you're looking for one.

The guys brought myself and Jonas Kyratzes on as writers around 9 months ago to deliver on their aspirations for the atmosphere and story. In The Talos Principle, you inhabit a robot body in a digital recreation of the ancient world, and explore at the behest of an omnipresent voice in the sky.

We're keeping our cards close to our chest on this one, but you could say Philip K. Dick's oeuvre is a close match for our general motif. We hope there's loads here to dig into and piece together if you're so minded, but equally if you're just here for the puzzles it won't get in your way.

About those puzzles. The concept has its roots in experimental puzzle mechanics developed for Serious Sam 4, and shares with that game...

Shuttle Quest 2000: R-Type Meets Monster Hunter on PS Mobile

50°
74w ago - TACSgames developer Thomas Hopper explained to fans today that Shuttle Quest 2000 is essentially R-Type meets Monster Hunter on PlayStation Mobile.

To quote: Over the last year, I have been working hard to bring fun games to PlayStation Mobile. I have created many titles to fit the many tastes of mobile gamers. My most recent game, Shuttle Quest 2000, is sort of a cross between and R-Type and Monster Hunter.

Become humanity's best shuttle pilot as you confront the evil alien forces of General Xarod. You'll meet many characters on your adventure, including humans, aliens, a pirate robot shop keeper and a very grumpy door.

To make your shuttle more combat-effective, you'll embark on quests, which will give you more resources and money to buy or craft new weapons, items, and drones. Defeating enemy megaships will alert your adversaries and make your job harder, but by conquering them, you will unlock more resources and weapons.

There are tons of different combinations of weapons and drones that you can use to make your shuttle a unique fighting machine.

I'm passionate about classic gaming, so I've done my best to make the game as authentic as possible with retro-accurate graphics, visual effects, chip tune music and sound effects. I wanted to make the space station...

Orgarhythm by XSeed for PlayStation Vita: Music Meets Strategy

50°
133w ago - XSeed Senior Editor Jessica Chavez has outlined Orgarhythm for PlayStation Vita today describing the PS Vita title as music meeting strategy.

To quote: Orgarhythm is a game that's going to puzzle a lot of people.

It's certainly not a premise that I've ever seen before, much less played. In short, Orgarhythm is the marriage of music and strategy - and some very nice touch controls. It's a game where you march to the beat, literally.

The premise is simple: There are two brothers, one that embodies creation, the other destruction. Together they settle on a planet and set about pumping out hordes of mini-tribal dudes who seem to really enjoy dancing.

The God of Light (the brother who thinks growing stuff is neat and probably listens to Jack Johnson) is making great progress spawning kittens, erecting maypoles or whatever kind of idyllic stuff you might imagine a sparkling deity likes.

Meanwhile, the other God (of Darkness) would rather just break all of his brother's toys. Understandably vexed, the God of Light decides it's time for a dance off and begins his slow-mo march to battle.

That's where you come in. Using the touch screen controls on your PS Vita, you'll direct the God of Light's backup dancers and tap-tap-tap your way through enemies. The...
