2w ago - Arrowhead Game Studios Co-Founder Malin Hedstrom made available a video trailer today announcing that Helldivers launches on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita platforms this March 3rd!

To quote: Arrowhead Game Studios, in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), today signed the Declaration of War between Super Earth and the intergalactic alien threat.

WE ARE NOW PREPARING FOR WAR.

With immediate effect from March 3rd, 2015, Helldivers are to be dispatched to the front lines of PS4, PS3 and PS Vita systems.

The Federation has decided that the bug threat is becoming too great. Senator John W. Killjoy declared that "The bugs have been a plague in this galaxy for far too long, they must now be eradicated before they spread to other worlds."

With the Helldiver troops spearheading the assault we are confident of success.

SUPER EARTH NOW CALLS FOR THE IMMEDIATE RECRUITMENT OF MORE HELLDIVERS.

All hope relies upon the success of the Helldivers: the only chance for the survival of Super Earth. Expect an action packed, cross-play, all out shooter.

As part of this elite unit, in the upcoming weeks we will provide further information about...

Video: Saints Row: Gat out of Hell Descends onto PS4, PS3 Next Week

6w ago - Deep Silver Volition Senior Producer Jim Boone posted up a video today announcing that Saints Row: Gat out of Hell descends onto PS4 and PS3 next week.

To quote: Hi Saints fans! We're super excited that Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is about to launch next week on January 20th.

Our teams had a tremendous amount of fun putting this game together, and we can't wait for all of you to get your hands on it.

We have certainly had a crazy, exhilarating trip with the Saints Row franchise, and none of us at Volition could have ever predicted how the Saints series would progress.

I can assure you when the team was making the first Saints Row, none of us would have guessed we would eventually have a Saints game with things like Satan, musicals, armchair weapons and supernatural wings!

This is what makes it so fun to work on the Saints Row series - we have the freedom to create over-the-top content with a complete focus on fun.

Now that we are closing out the Saints Row IV story arc, we hope you will love this expansion pack as much as we enjoyed making it. We're excited to bring new content to existing fans, and to bring Saints Row IV to PS4 as well!

There are tons of...

Video: Inside the Creation of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell's Music

100°
12w ago - Creative Director Steve Jaros posted up a PS4 video today taking an inside look at the creation of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell's music on PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: Music has always been an important part of the Saints Row franchise:

• Saints Row was inspired by over-the-top hip-hop music videos.
• Saints Row 2 introduced sing alongs.
• Saints Row: The Third showcased the sing alongs as a bonding moment between characters, as well as key licensed tracks to enhance emotion.
• Saints Row IV added dance into the mix (originally we wanted to end with a Bollywood dance number but scope reduction transformed it into the soul train line).
• How The Saints Save Christmas ends with a Christmas montage (originally set to "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey).

So when we decided that Gat out of Hell was going to be Saints Row's take on a Disney-esque fairy tale, we knew pretty early on that a musical number was essential to the experience.

This was exciting to me for two reasons: First, the introduction of a musical number wasn't going to be just some gag, it (like all musicals) was going to convey central plot points and character motivation just like any cutscene.

Video: The Seven Deadly Weapons of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell

19w ago - Volition Associate Producer Kate Nelson posted up a video today showcasing the seven deadly weapons of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell for PS4 and PS3 below.

To quote: Deep Silver and Volition recently announced a stand-alone expansion to Saints Row IV called Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell. Today, we're going to delve into a special set of over-the-top weapons this expansion has to offer!

Along with nine new weapons from Satan's arsenal and four weapons brought back from Saints Row IV, players will be able to seek out a unique set of Seven Deadly Weapons - each the embodiment of one of the Seven Deadly Sins: Envy, Pride, Greed, Lust, Sloth, Wrath, and Gluttony.

It was a happy accident for us that the weapon inventory wheel in Saints Row games has seven slots so we decided to pair one sin per slot: Melee, Pistol, SMG, Shotgun, Rifle, Explosive, and Special.

This means players may have all Seven Deadly Weapons in their load-out at a time! Collecting each weapon will not be easy, as each one has a unique and fun way of being obtained. Here is how it breaks down:

Our melee slot weapon, Uriels Edge, is the Envy of Hell. This enormous fiery sword has a slash attack to cut down nearby targets and also...

Video: Hellblade PS4 Dev Diary: Creating the World on PlayStation 4

20w ago - Ninja Theory Product Development ninja Dominic Matthews posted up a PS4 Development Diary video which covers creating the world on PlayStation 4.

To quote: Hello, Dominic Matthews here from Ninja Theory. I wanted to come back to PlayStation.Blog to share our latest development diary with you and to also give an update on how things are progressing with the creation of our new PS4 title Hellblade.

Back in August we announced Hellblade at PlayStation's Gamescom Press Conference, which at the time was just 4 months into development. By traditional standards, we were announcing the game incredibly early in development.

The reason for such an early announcement is that we want to share as much of Hellblade's development with you as we possibly can.

The standard approach is for games and their development to be hidden away, with details slowly drip fed to players very carefully and slowly over time. But we want to do the opposite. We announced early so that we could start sharing our development approach, creative exploration and decision making from the very beginning.

Since Gamescom we've been updating our site with regular development diary videos, blog posts, concept art and live streams. We've released three development diaries to date, focused on the announcement...
