2w ago - We received word today from Maria at Yanim Studio that they have been selected by Epic to show Red Goddess in the Unreal Engine booth at GDC 2015 in San Francisco during this year’s expo, which runs from March 4-6th.

We want to share our good news, we have been selected by Epic to show Red Goddess in Unreal Engine booth at GDC in San Francisco, during this year’s expo, March 4-6. Stop by and give to Red Goddess a go and chat with the creators if you’ll be at GDC.

Red Goddess is a nonlinear side-scroller with platform and combat situations in an adventure to explore the inner-mind of a Young Goddess with the objective of remembering and recovering her own powers.

In Red Goddess, you play as a troubled deity named Divine, who feels confused and haunted by her past. she is in imminent danger, Something mysterious and unknown is tearing her apart from the inside out, destroying her mind, her soul. To save herself, she must explore her own mind and the planet that exists within it.

This exploration is fraught with impediments and obstacles. The journey begins when Divine decides to right this wrong by exploring her own subconscious, where she will discover a planet within her own mind made up of mountains,...

50w ago - Today at GDC 2014 Sony's Shane Bettenhausen of Developer Relations announced that new PS4 Tools and Middleware are coming to PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Happy GDC! Today we're announcing that we will continue to strengthen our support for the global independent developer community by introducing more tools and middleware solutions for PS4.

SCE has entered into strategic partnerships to bring new native solutions from popular middleware vendors GameMaker: Studio and MonoGame to PS4, further expanding an already robust set of development tools.

We're also announcing that fully integrated solutions for Unity are now available for PS3 and PS Vita, with the highly anticipated early access version for PS4 coming in April 2014.

Unity, GameMaker: Studio and MonoGame represent the most popular game development tools leveraged by universities and independent developers alike, and are used for both prototyping and full-scale game development.

Jointly developed by SCE and YoYo Games, a GameMaker: Studio-native solution for PS4 is now available free for all SCE-licensed developers, making it even easier for developers to bring their 2D games to the more than 6 million global PS4 owners.

51w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli discusses their upcoming 2014 GDC Talks and The Last of Us Accolades today.

Below are the details, as follows: As we did in 2012, we'll have a large pack of Dogs giving talks at GDC 2014.

We just wrapped up The Last of Us: Left Behind to universal critical acclaim. It currently has a score of 89 on Metacritic, making it the highest rated PS3 downloadable content ever.

We also recently received five BAFTA awards, including the coveted Best Game in 2014, for our work on The Last of Us.

We're now heading to GDC to talk about some of the techniques and process that went into making The Last of Us, which has now hit over six million copies sold worldwide, as well as what made Left Behind, our first ever downloadable, single player story chapter, so unique.

101w ago - At this year's GDC, Sony has unveiled some new PlayStation 4 / PS4 details including optional real names, a larger friend's list, CPU and HDD updates and more as outlined below!

To quote: Sony shared new details on PlayStation 4 during a developer overview session at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

System

Sony is targeting PlayStation 4 to be the “central device in the living room,” and are building the system around core gamers, its “primary audience.”

There are five core principles to PlayStation 4: “Simple, Immediate, Social, Integrated, and Personalized.”

The PlayStation 4 CPU boasts a 64-bit x86 architecture, low power consumption, low heat, 8 cores, 8 hardware threads, 2MiB L2 cache per 4 core group, 32kib l1 I/D-cache, PlayStation Shader Language, and features DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.0 support.

The GPU will offer tessellation to add “geometric detail to smooth edges or create more organic shapes.”

The system’s RAM is 8GB 256 bit GDDR5, a high-end graphics memory only found on PC graphics cards.

101w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has detailed the PlayStation Mobile GDC 2013 games round up below today.

To quote: PlayStation Mobile had quite a presence at yesterday's Indie Arcade event at GDC. On top of all the awesome games out on the floor available to play, we announced the winner of our NYC GameJam, which took place last month at IndieCade East.

The four semi-finalist games-Crystallon, Hermit Crab in Space, Crumble, and Don't Wake the Bear-were all showcased at the event and Hermit Crab in Space, developed by Golden Ruby Games, was crowned as the first PSM GameJam winner.

Hermit Crab in Space will be featured in the PlayStation booth at E3 June 11th through 13th. Let's give a big shout out to all the semi-finalists and huge congratulations to Golden Ruby Games on their big win. These are incredible games developed by extraordinary talent and we look forward to seeing more at future GameJams.

We captured our very first GameJam on film and want to share that experience with you. Twelve amazing indie teams competed at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York working with the theme, "Evolution."
