To quote: Greetings, PlayStation gamers!

My name is Matt "Bayohne" Hilton and I'm on the Final Fantasy XIV community team. We're extremely excited that Part 1 of our latest Patch 2.5, titled "Before the Fall," is now live!

As with each major update, there is a lot of exciting content to tackle and I'd like to introduce PlayStation Blog readers to some of the major points to experience.

First off, if you haven't seen it, check out the Patch 2.5 - Before the Fall trailer!

We've got new dungeons for you and your fellow adventurers to challenge, including the massive "Keeper of the Lake!" Here you'll be tasked with climbing inside the wreckage of a giant Garlean airship that was destroyed by wyrm lord Midgardsormr. The remains of the wyrm lord are still wrapped around his defeated foe to this day...

The final chapter of the Crystal Tower story also makes its...

Final Fantasy XIV Update Out Today, Sneak Peek at Next Patch

50°
38w ago - Square Enix Community Project Manager Hergen Thaens revealed that the Final Fantasy XIV update is out today, and has shared a sneak peek at the next patch below!

To quote: I's been a while since the last article! How have you all been? We hope you're enjoying your journey through Eorzea, but that's no reason for us to be twiddling our thumbs.

Quite the contrary, as we've been busy preparing Patch 2.28, which we're bringing online today. And the next big patch 2.3 "Defenders of Eorzea" is already on the horizon as well!

I know that some of you don't play Final Fantasy XIV (yet...), so I'll just use two exemplary points for Patch 2.28. You can always find the full patch notes here!

Novus Weapons are here!

It's essential for every adventurer trying to make their way in Eorzea to be appropriately equipped. Currently, there are three paths to weapons that will enable you to beat even the most devastating raid bosses.

Primal weapons, which you can earn by defeating primals, Zodiac weapons, which you can get through a demanding quest chain, and finally: Allagan weapons, which you can acquire through high-level raids in the Coil of Bahamut.

To get your hands on Zodiac weapons, all you...

Video: Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster Out Today on PS3, PS Vita

50°
50w ago - Square Enix Senior Product Manager Sakura Minamida posted up a video today announcing that Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster is out today on PS3 and PS Vita.

Below are the details, to quote: We're coming to you today to let you know that Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is available to pick up and take home now on both PS3 and PS Vita, bringing two classic RPGs to the modern age.

Whether Final Fantasy X was one of your favorite games back on the PS2, or you never got a chance to try it, there's never been a better time to play.

The HD Remasters of both games are feature complete with all the International Edition content that never got released here in North America, and now they take advantage of all the neat stuff PlayStation consoles offer.

You've got some major Trophy hunting to do, and the two versions feature cross save compatibility with each other, so if you've got both, you never have to be without your game. The music is completely remastered, there's a bonus audio drama... This is truly the definitive version of both games!

We had a lot of great pre-order bonuses going, and while that window has passed, I can say that there are still very limited quantities of the Collector's...

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Demo Out Today on PS3

50°
58w ago - Square Enix Associate Product Manager Mat Kishimoto announced that Lightning Returns with the new Final Fantasy XIII demo out today on PS3!

To quote: If you haven't been lucky enough to attend E3, San Diego Comic Con, Penny Arcade Expo, or the other shows that have hosted Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, we have good news. We're excited to announce that you can get hands-on with it in a playable demo that's dropping TODAY.

From now on, you don't have to take our word for it that this game is unlike anything Final Fantasy has ever done before, because it's finally time for you to see for yourself.

First off, downloading the demo scores you an exclusive piece of DLC that we're giving to you PlayStation fans - the Utsusemi Samurai garb - that you can use in the main game (it's not in the demo itself, so don't panic if you don't see it).

Again, this offer is exclusive to PlayStation owners too, so right off the bat you're getting something not everybody's going to get, JUST for downloading it. You can't tell, but I'm winking at you, especially at all you Final Fantasy XI Ninjas.

So what's in the demo itself? Of course, you're playing as Lightning, but you're now mysteriously tracking down her old friend Snow Villiers in the city of Yusnaan. As Lightning, it's...
