May 19, 2008 // 5:30 pm - No matter which way you cut the cheese, the Wii has been a huge success for Nintendo. Sales for the little white box of joy have been extremely impressive, and it isn't uncommon for some Aussie retailers to witness 'Wii droughts' due to the console rapidly disappearing off the shelves like Hotcakes, or Tickle Me Elmo, or some yet-to-be-recalled anatomically correct Barbie doll.

Immense console sales are all well and good for the bean counters and the Nintendo money bin, but when it comes to game titles the Wii has a fatal flaw: 3rd party shovelware and the piss-poor graphics...

April 29, 2008 // 2:21 pm - A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, gamers had an interactive game for their TVs called pong. The game was hailed by computer enthusiasts all over the United States. Soon after pong came what older gamers would remember as Atari which allowed gamers to play many different kinds of games on one console.

But as great as these games were, video games were seen as nerdy and a "fad" that would die out within a year or so. In 1985 a Japanese company called Nintendo decided that it wanted to bring video games to the "casual gamer" and delivered to the world the NES.

PSP outsells every other console combined 50°
April 4, 2008 // 12:28 am - Another day, another story about how the release of Monster Hunter Portable G 2nd in Japan has caused a country-wide frenzy of consumerism. Since its release last Thursday, the game reportedly sold out on its first day on sale, then went on to shift over one million copies within six days.

Today, chart data from Famitsu based on software and console sales for last week (March 24-30th) and reprinted here shows what sort of impact the game's release has had on console sales in Japan.
