Rumor: British Source Claims PSP2 to Release Holiday 2011 650°
October 5, 2010 // 6:57 am - A few weeks ago PSP2 was confirmed by developers, and today according to VG247.com (linked above) a British source claims Sony's PSP2 handheld will be released during Holiday 2011.

To quote: "Developers and publishers have been told that PSP2 will release at the end of next year, a British source familiar with the matter has told VG247.

"We've been told it's coming in late 2011," said our man.

GameStop Study Claims Game Downloads Not Viable Until 2014 400°
June 20, 2009 // 9:30 pm - Retailer GameStop has claimed that digital game downloads will not really take-off until 2014.

Their study also concludes that gamers are only willing to spend $39 per downloadable game.

To quote: In what it claims is the "most thorough study [of its variety] to date," videogame retailer GameStop has found that digital downloads - like those found on Steam, Impulse, Xbox Live Arcade and other such services - won't be making any real waves until 2014. Er, what?

Rumor: Inside Source Claims PS3 & PSP Price Cut in Early June 400°
April 24, 2009 // 8:21 pm - According to an internal 'proven' source of French Web site PS3Gen.fr, it's been unofficially confirmed that both the PS3 and PSP will receive price drops in early June.

This would obviously correspond with E3, which is scheduled to run between June 2 and June 4.

To quote: Although the source didn't reveal the new price for the PS3, it did provide the new price point for the handheld: 169 Euros, down from 189.

Of course, even if accurate, this information may only apply...

Sony Responds to PlayStation Skin Disorder Claims 550°
February 24, 2009 // 12:52 pm - Earlier today, a buzz was being made about "PlayStation palmar hidradenitis" after a girl developed painful red lumps on her hands after playing PlayStation for a number of hours per day.

Sony has responded to the matter by indicating there are possible consequences if gamers do not follow common sense and the guidelines.

To quote: Sony has issued a statement following an earlier report linking use of its PlayStation console to a skin disorder.

Team overclocks Core 2 Quad to 5.1GHz, Claims World Record 100°
August 1, 2008 // 3:34 pm - Nilay Patel writes: So we hate to break it to the good guys at Tom's Hardware, but while we're impressed that they managed to overclock a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 to 5.1GHz using a cryogenic cooling system, it's not nearly close to the world record they're claiming.

We've seen P4's at up to 8.18GHz, and just a couple months ago someone jacked a Core 2 Extreme QX9775 on a Skulltrail board to 6GHz. Still, it's always fun to watch people pour liquid nitrogen over a mobo - video below.

Microsoft claims 40% GTA IV attach rate for new consoles 50°
May 13, 2008 // 1:44 am - Speaking in the latest edition of the Major Nelson podcast, perennial guest "e" has claimed that nearly half of all new Xbox 360's sold since GTA IV launched have also included a GTA IV sale.

"Roughly 40 percent of consoles going out the door had a copy of GTA going with them," he said.

It's unclear whether or not he was talking about the US or globally.
