Divekick Addition Edition + on PS4, New Character for PS3, PS Vita

Divekick Addition Edition + on PS4, New Character for PS3, PS Vita 50°
17w ago - Divekick Creator Adam "Keits" Heart announced news today of a Divekick Addition Edition + on PS4, and also a new character incoming for both PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: Divekick Addition Edition + has finally arrived on PS4! This update to Destructoid's 2013 Fighting Game of the Year is available now for just $9.99. But what is Divekick?

Divekick is the world's first two-button fighting game. It distills the essence of the fighting game genre into just two buttons with no d-pad directional movement.

Divekick's focused gameplay demonstrates how much depth a single move actually has, and introduces (or reinforces) skills fundamental to the genre: mind games, spacing, timing, and quick reactions.

Fans all over the world dove headfirst into Divekick last year and found a very simple to learn, but very difficult to master head to head competitive experience. In fact, weekly online tournaments are still happening to this very day! If you purchased Divekick for PS3 or PS Vita, fear not!

The Addition Edition + update is completely free and will be available to you shortly. You'll be able to enjoy GGPO-powered online cross play, allowing you to fight against players on the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita. A world of competition awaits you.

Artist's Perspective: The Main Character of Road Not Taken

Artist's Perspective: The Main Character of Road Not Taken 50°
57w ago - Spry Fox Lead Artist Brent Kobayashi shared his perspective of the main character of Road Not Taken on PS Vita and PS4 below.

To quote: Hi everyone! I'm Brent, the lead artist for Spry Fox's upcoming PS4 & Vita game, Road Not Taken. We've gotten a lot of questions and compliments about the look of the game's main character, so I thought you might enjoy reading about the process I went through in creating it!

First, I guess I should say that designing a game's main character/avatar is always tricky. The avatar has to work as a functional asset within the context of the game, has to look good in marketing materials and screenshots, but most importantly, has to feel right as something that represents you, the player! Easier said than done.

In Road Not Taken, the main character is a forest ranger of sorts (who happens to be blessed with mystical powers of levitation). Although the theme of the game superficially calls for it, I knew right off the bat that I didn't want to go with a typical "park ranger" motif.

The forest of Road Not Taken is mysterious and enchanted, and I wanted the Avatar to have the same vibe. So instead, I drew inspiration from more delightful/whimsical figures. Some of my key inspirations include:

Tearaway's Papery Challenges and PS Vita Character Customization

Tearaway's Papery Challenges and PS Vita Character Customization 50°
72w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford outlined some of Tearaway's papery challenges and PS Vita character customization for fans below today.

To quote: Even though Tearaway is a single-player game - a personal journey shared by you, and your little messenger friend, iota or atoi - we couldn't resist giving Tearaway players the chance to express themselves creatively.

We've already talked at length about the oodles of papercraft models you can collect as you play through the game, but there are also in-game challenges that will allow you to personalize the world as you travel through it.

A squirrel who needs a new crown, a chap whose moustache has been stolen by crows, and a pig that's too ugly... these are all examples of problems you'll be asked to solve through the cutting out of virtual paper shapes.

When the time comes to get crafty, you'll be presented with a virtual cutting mat, and a selection of colored paper sheets. Using the pencil tool, you can trace a shape that you want to cut out using the front touch. If you make a mistake, you can erase your flawed pencil lines with the eraser tool, but once you're happy with the shape, hit the scissors icon to cut it out.

You can layer multiple sheets on top of one another, just like using real paper, and once...

The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character Hits PS Vita

The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character Hits PS Vita 100°
92w ago - Dakko Dakko Producer Dan Croucher has announced that the HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character hits PS Vita this week with details below.

To quote Hello there! My name is Dan Croucher, and I'm the producer here at Dakko Dakko.

Today I'm going to talk about The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character - a brand new PS Vita remake of Dakko Dakko's very first game, The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character - originally released on PSP minis. Phew.

First up, you're the first to hear that the game has cleared certification and will be released in Europe on 29th May. It'll cost €2.99 (or local equivalent), is available across Europe and Australia/New Zealand, and as well as English, is translated into Spanish, French, German and Italian. A US version is in progress now, and will be coming soon.

As we know you're all definitely going to buy it (right?), in this post I'm going to relax and take some time to explain some of the major changes we've made from the original, and share a bit of insight into how we went about it.

Our planned changes to the game to put it on PS Vita were a mix of new features and new assets. The full list was:

• Full art and audio upgrade and replacement
