Microsoft Blocks Unauthorized XBox 360 Storage Devices 550°
293w ago - Update: According to SeattlePI.com, Datel has now filed an antitrust lawsuit in San Francisco federal court against Microsoft over their incompatible Max Memory cards.

Today Microsoft's Major Nelson has warned that next week's XBox 360 update will see the blocking of unauthorized storage devices such as the XBox 360 Memory Unit 512MB or XBox 360 Max Memory Card 2GB.

Nintendo Releases First DSi System Update, Blocks Flash Carts 100°
304w ago - Update: According to TinyCartridge.com, the new DSi Firmware v1.4 has reportedly blocked all flash carts but adds Facebook functionality. Some flash carts are updatable for the DSi, but as of yet there is apparently no work-around.

Today German site PlanetDS.de (linked above) is reporting that Nintendo's DSi handheld has received its first System Update.

There is currently no word yet on whether this targets Nintendo...

322w ago - Those considering updating to Nintendo's Wii System Menu 4.0 today may wish to read Marcan's System Menu 4.0 Rundown first as follows:

• Nintendo, as expected, half-assed the SD feature by just automating the copy to NAND. No surprise there.
• The IOS16 that warez users used to pirate is no longer an option, thank goodness.
• HBC survives. So does DVDX.
• They fixed the bug that the HBC installer and DVDX 3.4 installer use; time to bring out another one.
• Twilight Hack no longer works....

New Nintendo Wii Drive Revision Blocks Current Wii Mod-chips 50°
337w ago - The Internet is buzzing with multiple reports that there is a new Nintendo Wii revision which blocks all current Wii mod-chips.

Apparently, the drive controller chip has been completely removed and Nintendo has combined the older D1A and driver controller chip into one which is called the GC2-D3.
