Rumor: Splinter Cell: Conviction PS3 Blockbuster & Game Images 300°
262w ago - Update: To add more fuel to the fire, ScrawlFX.com has now uncovered a listing for Splinter Cell: Conviction in the Ubisoft Support center.

Since last year Ubisoft has been stating that they have no plans for a PS3 version of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, but now contradictory images are turning up in a Blockbuster Video ad and from Swedish retailer Game giving fans hope the XBox 360 exclusive is no more.

To quote: "Look at the scan below, although could be a typo, it shows a number of games and movies with the dates and times they'll be available, but what caught my attention was the Splinter Cell: Conviction listing that also lists PS3 as one of the platforms.

It's also listed as available on February...

Blockbuster to Offer Video Game Rentals Online in Mid-2009

Blockbuster to Offer Video Game Rentals Online in Mid-2009 50°
316w ago - During the second half of this year, Blockbuster video is set to offer games for rental online.

The service will be charged at an additional $5 a month compared to the movie rental service, and you can only have one game at a time.

To quote: The company will launch a pilot program in the second quarter for its Total Access customers in an as-yet-undetermined geographic region.

Blockbuster will offer games for the Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360 game consoles.

Because games cost more than DVD movies, Total Access customers will be charged an additional $5 in any month in which they are shipped a game, and they can rent only one game at a time.

However, if a customer does not receive a game during a month, the additional fee will not be charged during that month.

Is Blockbuster Video the PlayStation 3's Answer to Netflix?

Is Blockbuster Video the PlayStation 3's Answer to Netflix? 250°
326w ago - Are Sony and Blockbuster looking to form an alliance to bring Blockbuster's streaming video offer to the PlayStation 3? We'll know by 'early next year' says Blockbuster Video.

Sony and Blockbuster have some history together already. You may recall that Blockbuster was one of the first retailers in North America that they were going to be supporting Blu-ray on a much bigger scale than HD DVD. That announcement really got the ball rolling in Blu-ray's favor at the time.

Fast forward a year and we have Netflix signing streaming deals with every manufacturer they can find including an exclusive game console deal with Microsoft. Netflix has signed deals with TiVo Inc, Samsung, LG Electronics.

Now comes word from Blockbuster that, in the wake of their launch of Blockbuster OnDemand, they are actively seeking a partnership with Blu-ray player manufacturers. With Samsung and LG already in Netflix's corner, could this lead Blockbuster to seek out Sony as a BD player/game console entry into the market?

Unlike Netflix's "Watch Instantly" feature, the Blockbuster on-demand service will be open to customers who do not subscribe to its DVD-by-mail service.

Blockbuster Chairman and Chief Executive Jim Keyes said, "The service is essentially a rebranding and expansion of Blockbuster's...

Now, there's another option as well.

PSN Cards to Arrive at Blockbuster, 7-Eleven, Rite Aid this September

PSN Cards to Arrive at Blockbuster, 7-Eleven, Rite Aid this September 50°
340w ago - Despite being promised for a "nationwide" rollout last Spring, pre-paid PSN cards are still a scarce commodity. That is, unless you have a Meijer nearby.

Truth be told, many of us don't, so it is reassuring to hear that Sony will be expanding availability of the cards to Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and Rite Aid stores across the continental United States later this September.

This is no doubt good news for those without access to a credit card or debit card account. We just can't fathom why it took them this long though.

To quote: Use your PlayStationŽNetwork card to purchase and download exclusive games, videos and more for your PLAYSTATIONŽ3 and PlayStationŽ Portable systems!

Visit your local Pamida, Meijer, Blockbuster and Speedway stores to pick up the PSNŽ card.

Retailers joining in September: Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and Rite Aid

We'll be adding more PLAYSTATIONŽ Network Card retailers soon. Check here for the latest updates.
