November 6, 2012 // 1:43 am - Following up on their previous announcement, today wololo has revealed that Total_Noob's CEF TN-B (port by Teck4 and Frostegater) is now available which makes use of the PS Vita Gravity Crash exploit for Firmware 1.81.

From his blog: Despite conspiracy theorists who would love to see us not deliver, here’s, as promised, Teck4′s port of Total_Noob’s eCFW to a new game exploit for the game Gravity Crash Portable.

As “expected”, the game Gravity Crash Portable was removed from all Sony PSN locales yesterday, following our announce 3 days ago of a vulnerability being discovered in that game, that would allow a malicious attacker to run Super Mario Bros on your Vita.

Hopefully, people who missed the Monster Hunter AND Urbanix AND Mad blocker alpha exploits had enough luck this time to catch this 4th game in time before it got pulled.

Teck4 ported TN’s CEF to the Gravity Crash game in JP, while Frostegater adapted this work to the EU and US versions. Total_Noob’s CEF is a tool running within the PSP Emulator of the Vita, which will allow you, among other things, to run most PSP homebrews (see a good selection of great homebrews and emulators here) and PSP plugins. Tools such as the Vita FTP will also simplify your file transfers, compared to the tedious official Content Manager Assistant.

Installation and usage are explained in the readme (thanks Frostegater!), but here they are again:

  • Copy both savedata folders to PSVita by CMA(Open CMA is preferred)
  • Run game->Editor->Press START->Load level->Choose “exploit”->
  • Save level
  • Enjoy

As I understand, it is only capable to run (in best case) PSP games in PSP emulation mode? So no real Vita ISO loaders nowhere soon?

What is hide Custom Firmware dirs patch?

Some games can detect CFW by dirs and can't be launched and played properly (crash when launching game, crach when saving ...), this patch allow to hide CFW dirs and play this games.

I don’t remember when we had the last PSP CFW news at Wololo’s Blog, but this one is kinda exciting!

The developer Rahim-US ported the famous PSP custom firmwares 6.60 ME-1.8 and 6.60 LME-1.8 to the 6.20 kernel of the PSP, which makes them compatible with the permanent patch.

Neur0n’s PSP CFW can now be permanently installed on every PSP that supports the 6.20 firmware, instead of only the PSP 1000 and 2000.

Same Custom Firmware, different base firmware

In general, this new 6.20 ME/LME-1.8 CFW is the same as the 6.60 ME/LME-1.8 CFW, it just got backported to the 6.20 kernel, so it can be used in combination with the permanent patch, which makes the LME CFW basically a full CFW, on any PSP model, like the ME on older PSPs.

In the past, only the PRO CFW and the TN HEN were able to use the permanent patch, since there was no ME/LME CFW for said firmware 6.20.

The permanent patch is a nice addition to the PSP, since it looks and feels the same as a full (cIPL) CFW, something that most people will know from the PSP 1000 and 2000.

The permanent patched CFWs are basically just auto-booting LCFWs, which means a brick can still be fatal and flash0 mods are NOT recommended (Unless one uses a cIPL CFW, but that is something that just exists for the PSP 1000 and 2000).

The good thing about the permanent patch is, that it can help resolve to fix semi-bricks, since it offers access to the recovery menu, which then can be used to fix flash problems or even flash a completely new firmware.

I, personally, am very happy that it is now possible to use the LME CFW on firmware 6.20, since this means it can be permanent patched, when the perma patcher for the 6.20 LME is done.

The permanent patch installer for the 6.20 LME is currently still being worked on, to guarantee that it will be a safe one, not like the first public version of the permanent patcher for TN-D HEN, which bricked a few PSPs, due to an oversight.

If you are running a higher firmware than 6.20, be sure to grab the 6.20 firmware update and the Chronoswitch Downgrader, which will enable you to install/downgrade to firmware 6.20.

Exactly. Uncharted? Got it. And resold it after a couple of hours. Wipeout 2048? Got it. Completed the "game" (a little more than a demo...), completed the HD remake and almost completed the Fury remake (got both for free because I had already bought them for my PS3).

FFTWOTL? Got the original on PSX. I had on PSP too but I resold it. I don't like the other games in the offer...

I could update if they gave me for free something like Ragnarok Odyssey...or YS-Celceta, but it won't happen in a million years.

If tomorrow we suddenly got an only playable HD Vita version of Trails in the Sky 2 I would update in the blink of an eye. But this it's not gonna happen too..

BTW, I've never updated my Vita. I bought it used with some games and It came with 1.81 installed. So, I was wondering: are the updates stealthly forced if I got the wi-fi running or will they pop up only if I try to use the store or the PSN? That Vita ftp is very useful...
