#ProgSkeet: New iSkeet
#ProgSkeet: New YASkeet
#ProgSkeet: Complete solderless NAND dualboot POC works, no more cutting traces!

ProgSkeet Flasher

Recent Changes and History:

111004:

  • New Qt GUI implemented
  • Linux and MacOS X support
  • Added predefined and user presets
  • Fixed ability to select invalid ranges
  • Added a file patcher
  • Flasher: Added support for canceling running operations
  • Flasher: Added USB device reset
  • Flasher: Added support for erasing as a stand-alone operation
  • Flasher: Added cycle period selection, should help with longer cables
  • Flasher: Added abort on error option
  • Flasher: Reodered operations, full read, full erase, full write
  • Flasher: Fixed bug with unreliable GPIO operation
  • NOR: Added new write mode "Dual word program"
  • NOR: Added display of total flash size
  • NOR: Fixed flashing of the second half of Samsung K8Q2815UQB and likely other dual chip NORs
  • NOR: Added erase block region configuration
  • NOR: Added selection of number of bytes for buffered write
  • NOR: Added support for Spansion S29GL128N90TFIR2
  • NAND: Made custom ranges work
  • NAND: Added Dual-NAND reading. Reads a block from two NANDs simultaneously, thereby doubling the speed.

11xxxx:

  • Flasher: New buffer handling.
  • NOR: Added new timing options. Static timing will be configurable later.
  • NOR: Added preset for Samsung K8P2716UZC-QI4D

Notes:

  • Differential flash, if you haven't noticed yet, will skip unnecessary writes (compares data on chip vs data in file)
  • The Ready triggered timing requires you to bridge the RDY and the GP4 pins together (still needs to be connected to the target RDY)

yours truly,

uf6667

Hi jensen76,

Many thanks for your reply, I did what you said and I was finally able to install the driver, but when I tested for shorts it said there were shorts found. I have attached a screenshot to let you see what it said.

I would really appreciate it if you could talk me through this as I don't want to do anything wrong. I was wondering what the next step would be now?

I look forward to your reply.

you need to put the bitsream on progskeet first then you can install the driver....

i got my to read and write to my 2 nand chips whit the 360 clips... i had to use an old pc with xp and i didn't use the newest bitstream...

Ok it is easy to say that the one that you have has had some problems with writing to chips both nor and nand chips. I have two of them and have never gotten them to work when it comes to writing to the chips, it does read both but not write. I have tried both nor and nand chips and cant get it to write.

Ok so now remember this that if you try it and it doesn't work you will have a ps3 that will not work (brick) the reason for this is that it doesn't write the files that is needed. You will have to flash the newest bitstream to the progskeet. Thanks and if you need help let me know. Like i said i have two 1.2s and still use my two 1.1s. thanks

Hi,

I have just recently got the Progskeet v1.2 (Black Tar Edition) and I have managed to install the driver for the Injectus no problem, but when I try and install the driver for the Progskeet I get the message "Unknown USB Device".

I have seen by looking the net a lot of people are having this problem. I was wondering if somebody would be kind enough to do walk through for me please as I am new to the Progskeet and would greatly appreciate some guidance.

P.S. I am just wondering if the problem might be that I am running Windows 7 64 Bit on an Intel machine, as I see that the 64 Bit driver is in a folder marked AMD and doesn't seem to mention Intel. I just thought I'd mention that just in case.

Many thanks for any help!

I seem them out And they seem like they would work. However the progskeet 1.2 are having a lot of problems with writing to ps3s. I would wait into they get it figured out with a bitstream update. They can read the ps3 fine but can't write to it. Thanks

See lot's of mention of the PS3 Quick Solder Board for Progskeet but does this thing actually exist or is it just a concept?

according to what i hear the latest bitstreams for 1.2 dont support flashing yet and i also believe they are working on it atm. im using an early bitstream flashed to my 1.2 and am in the middle of soldering so i will let you guys know how it goes, once completed.

pedromaiaz - it is recommended to set the delay to 200 instead of 50 as your video. however if your using clips i would strongly recommend you not use them as they are unreliable at best. soldering a nor is a very easy job.

i'm currently soldering a nand and by geez its a hard job. all you need is the correct number and length of wires. i always use 10 cm lengths and, once checked for shorts or bad soldering, i have never had a failure reading or writing however that was with a 1.0 so i'm eager to see how the 1.2 fares against a nand.

I have gotten the progskeet 1.2 to take a flash. I also have gotten it to read a ps3 but will not write to one. I will keep doing some work with it as I go and see if I can find a way to make this work. Once I do I will make a guide. Thanks

Hey there,

I hope you could clarify a couple things for me

- first image = that's the 1.0 right

- the other 4 images are for NOR but they aren't the same... the 2 board pics are obviously of different motherboards without indication of which ones they and the pin naming is messed up, there are the Dxx, the D0xx and the DQxx.. are these referencing the same thing?

- also that's for NOR... what about NAND/Dual NAND soldering pin schematics... can't find "clear" info on that, the 1.2 manual states "zoom in on picture for details" when the image looks crappy at 100%... 200%+ all characters look the same - gibberish.

On a side note, I've read the clips aren't recommended, would you have info on that as well? I've been looking around and reading about this stuff for months now and got my 1.2 (full kit w/o clips) about a week ago when i heard it got released.

Reason i picked this over the E3 is because I understood progskeet did NANDs and NORs whereas the E3 had 2 packages, one for each. I still haven't had the chance (nor time or the proper information) to play around with it, I just want to get my facts straight

thanks for your time...
