165w ago - Following up on the previous revision, French PlayStation 3 developer Markus95 has shared a Paintown PS3 homebrew game mod called SaintSeiya v0.1 today complete with details and video footage below.

Download: Paintown PS3 Homebrew Game Mod - SaintSeiya v0.1 / Paintown PS3 Homebrew Game Mod - SaintSeiya v0.1 (Mirror)

To quote, roughly translated: After the Wii version of my second Mod Paintown: Saintseiya v0.1, here is the PS3 version.

Just a reminder, Paintown is developed and adapted by Jon Rafkind on PS3 and Schristopher Lunuxx, it is a question of a beat 'em all to the old style of Street of Rage or Double Dragon else to mention that they ...

You will find complete information, versions (Win, Linux, Wii, etc...) for download on the official website of paintown at: paintown.sourceforge.net

My Mod is dedicated to one of my favorite manga Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac). This is no more than a first version, far from being finished, but already well supplied... I have gathered the bulk of the manga, trying to be as faithful to the work of the great original Masami Kurumada. I have therefore taken the broad outlines of this fabulous manga, my Mod starts early and ends it at the end of the period of the Sanctuary (which for me is the best part of the work of the master...)

Changelog:

  • 12 Stages Stage 1 + Tuto
  • 22 playable characters
  • Select an internship
  • The original music
  • Official voices in French
  • Adding effect in some course
  • And all the latest news from Paintown

Since the first version, it is not complete, some characters have not all their techniques, some courses are not finalized (if you encounter any bugs, thank you for the reports that I corrected for the next release...)

Installation:

  • Install paintown.pkg by the packages install
  • Unzip the archive data.rar
  • Copy the data folder in dev_hdd0/game/Paintown_/USRDIR / ... FTP
  • Paintown Run from the XMB
  • Select Change Mod, then saintseiya.

Been a while since I played this game, but I'll probably try it out now after this update. TBH I think this is best homebrew game on the Ps3.

Now thats Awesome !!! A beat em up side scroller like "Double Dragon", with characters of "Street Fighter" and the background music from "Killer Instinct Gold". I wonder doesn't this break some copyright rules ?

Following up on his previous release, today French PlayStation 3 developer Markus95 has updated the Paintown PS3 homebrew fighting game modification to version 3.5 Final.

Download: Paintown 3.5 Final PS3 Homebrew Game Mod / Paintown 3.5 Final PS3 Homebrew Game (Official)

To quote, roughly translated: Little wake-up call, this 2D game based on the source code for MUGEN, was designed by Jon Rafkind and covered by Scristopher PS3 and lunuxx.

The aim of this game is, as with any beat them all, as much as possible to hit the opponent to reach the end of it.

This mod includes a total of 12 Levels. The program of festivities, there are 3 new bonus stages, support for the multiplayer to 4 (not tested but should work), three new characters (Seiya, Shiryu and Hyoga) as well as new enemies and music for internships.

And good news on top of that, the Wii version is coming soon ...

Procedure:

  • Download and install pkg on your console via "Install Package Files."
  • Paintown 3.5 and installed the mod!

The author wishes to thank the whole team Paintown for his help on this mod but cool72 for testing in 3.41 on PS3 and Wii.

Here's a short video of a bonus stage (Saint Seiya) to give you an overview of the final:

And a video of the Wii version, you put your mouth water:

Update: I found where was the crash. For corrected, download this file and replace the file "paintown.txt" by that via FTP in:
hdd0/game/Paintown2/USRDIR/data/markus95/levels /

Also below is Paintown v3.5 (official) by lunuxx which includes offline multiplayer mode for up to four players, new times and bug fixes.

Download: Paintown 3.5 Final PS3 Homebrew Game (Official)

Changelog:

  • Co-op offline multiplayer (up to 4 players)
  • Lots of things fixed
  • More compatibility

New items:

  • Invincibility and speed!

To quote: Of course these items are things you can add yourself with the level/animation editor some pre built things are in the works as of now. Nothing complete yet tho you can easily make your own or make a request here.

Multiplayer works great and I will recompile paintown later with markus's stuff built in as well for people that would like to try 3.5 with his mods (tho his was only a few days before the official release date). Network mode coming very soon. More moves added for peter and more characters as well.

Update: Also below is Paintown from lunuxx featuring new character Ragna Bloodedge from Blazblue, as follows:

Download: Paintown PS3 Homebrew Game (Ragna Bloodedge from Blazblue) / Paintown PS3 Homebrew Game (Ragna Bloodedge from Blazblue) (Mirror)

Video was made way before alot of the work on him I have recently done.

Changelog:

  • paintown engine - added parameter to scale sprites
  • editor - added a bunch of new tools like overlaying animations and a combo viewer
  • mugen - probably fixed some bugs
  • paintown engine - characters can have intro animations now
  • i guess you can say networking on the ps3 partially works, in a test lan play worked with my ps3 and a laptop the laptop set to:
    192.168.1.110

I think you should download and install this (http://www.multiupload.com/TGSNFR6NUX) version of the game. It's the latest one, so it would be wise to download it.

SO is this basically just mugen I used to rule on mugen, i used to make characters, stages, bgm music tracks, I could even give moves to characters, I have a roster of 850 Mugen fighters, if they can be used let me know... this is great.
