  • Added mouse support
  • Physical keyboard support improved (still some minor bugs). Added positional/symbolic key layout modes
  • Added ZIP and GZIP support
  • Added HUD options for framerate/speed display
  • Added HUD options for Disk/Tape activity
  • Added multiple disk drive support
  • Disk images can be inserted using TRIANGLE + L1/L2/R1/R2 for drives 8, 9, 10, 11 respectively.
  • ReSID-FP support has been added, providing significantly better audio emulation.
  • Turn up the speakers on this, it's a world of difference.
  • Support for various SID models have been added as part of ReSID-FP
  • Maximum resampling under ReSID-FP is now default, using the original 6581R4 model SID.
  • Fixed a bug when using compatibility mode. Occasionally TDE was not enabled correctly.

Happy gaming!

Many thanks for the work on this, I know this may sound cheeky but do you know of anybody working on a Spectrum Emulator?

Great work, everything seems to be working fine now. One question though, on the keyboard emulation what key is run/stop? I need the key to get past one of the game intros.

VICE 1.0.2 released

CHANGELOG
- Support for C128
- On-Screen Keyboard fixed
- Initial support for ReSID emulation (higher quality audio)

- ReSID emulation optimised to use AltiVec instruction set, yielding a significant performance boost against higher quality audio emulation in resampling mode (see changelog)

- Default ReSID quality now set to maximum (Resampling at 90% Band Pass)

- Fixed minor redraw bug that caused the screen buffer to flip back to settings screen after a redraw/blit timeout
- Added PIC1.PNG

- Support to insert a disk image without rebooting (TRIANGLE)

- Added compatibility SlowLoad mode (SQUARE)
This will disable FastLoad and enable True Drive Emulation (TDE) for those titles that require it for improved compatibility

- Mapped RUN/STOP key to L3

- Mapped right control-stick to cursor keys (up/down/left/right)

- Fixed F1/F3/F5/F7 key mapping to controller L1/L2/R1/R2

- Finally... Disabling audio emulation altogether during warp mode has increased CPU throughput to 1749%
That ought to help any long load times.

- Optimised audio buffer sizes

Thanks for that ClausG76.

Claus, thanks for the feedback. Actual keyboard support is very much incomplete and isn't currently a major focus, though I'll look into it for sure. Also, 1.0.2 has resolved the menu swap problem.

Saving of default path config is on the list for a future revision, along with a whole host of VICE specific config options.

Sorry for the NOOB question but where do we place the ROMS for this? Is it just in root or do we need to create a specific folder path?

Sounds great thanks.

I tested it with my blutooth keyboard an it was working fine except for the F-buttons. I noticed that on still screens, it is some times flashing the previuos screen. Ex if you just selected something in a menu and it moves on to another menu. The screen will be change between the previos menu and the present menu. It also sometimes aperar at the loading sekvense.

Have you thought about adding the possibility of saving the location of the disc image folder?

Next release (1.0.2) will resolve many of these issues.

Claus, you are correct. The button mapping for the function keys was broken.
Dragonsurfer, the ability to switch disk images without rebooting has been added.

Muny21, I've tried those three titles you suggested and had no problems with the sound. Can you try again with v1.0.2? (release expected a few hours from now).

You should also expect to see a fixed OSK (on-screen keyboard), improved audio emulation (higher quality), faster warp-mode, added compatibility mode, and a few more button mappings.
