245w ago - Today AerialX has released a new version of PSGroove that allows you to use the apploader function.

Apploader (the 1st folder above install packages) allows you to run PS3 pkg's without installing them, it can also run eboot.bin's with some modification.

Download: PSGroove with Apploader Payload / PSGroove with Apploader Payload and Peek/Poke Syscalls / PSGroove with Apploader Payload Guide / Precompiled Hex Codes

To quote: My PSGroove fork is up! Functions are relocatable and it includes the USB stick apploader payload.

Payloads

This fork comes with multiple payloads, which you can enable by editing port1_config_descriptor.S. All payloads have been rearranged so that they do not use hardcoded addresses anymore; you can rewrite and resize functions without worrying about offsetting others.

### Default Payload
The default payload performs the basic PSGroove exploit; it allows you to install and run unsigned packages.

### Apploader Payload
This payload makes use of the /app_home/PS3_GAME menu item. You may place an application on a USB drive under the PS3_GAME folder to run it without installing a package.

Note that simply extracting a .pkg onto the USB drive is not quite enough for a program to run. EBOOT.BIN must be slightly modified to boot properly.

I tried that, works but there are MANY problems. Rewriting all "Makefile" was easy.

First off WinAVR has sometimes problems with raw2payload for not creating properly. Next is, ppu-lv2-gcc.exe & ppu-lv2-objcopy.exe malfunction in generation of port1_config_descriptor.h and .o

The generated .hex is too small due to defective created port1 's.

When i take the linux generated and try to use thoose manualy in windows, winavr fails to create a working .hex.

Using Fedora works well in vmware.

Probably backup manager only works with the original (basic) payload compiled in, along with the descriptor.h patch.

look, I found this.. maybe it could help cross-compiling under windows: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cellwindowssdk/

Try building using msys or cygwin. I know lots of companies distribute gcc built with msys and I wouldn't be surprised if the official SDK was built with that too.

i've managed to compile this in ubuntu. make sure you have these installed: binutils-avr avr-libc

however, editing the descriptor.h doesn't seem to restore backup manager functionality

I also got it to compile under ubuntu, converting rpms with alien, the key step, after generating and installing the debs, is to add /opt/cell/toolchain/bin to path

export PATH=$PATH:/opt/cell/toolchain/bin

and don't forget to install avr-gcc (gcc-avr under ubuntu) and avr-libc.

BT4 is ubuntu based. There was a way to install a rpm in a debian system but I hear the conversions don't always make it.

Hey, but the Backup Manager don't work?

I edited the file descriptor.h, but the B.M. does not work the same...
