PSGroove with Apploader Payload by AerialX is Released

233w ago - Today AerialX has released a new version of PSGroove that allows you to use the apploader function.

Apploader (the 1st folder above install packages) allows you to run PS3 pkg's without installing them, it can also run eboot.bin's with some modification.

To quote: My PSGroove fork is up! Functions are relocatable and it includes the USB stick apploader payload.

Payloads

This fork comes with multiple payloads, which you can enable by editing port1_config_descriptor.S. All payloads have been rearranged so that they do not use hardcoded addresses anymore; you can rewrite and resize functions without worrying about offsetting others.

### Default Payload
The default payload performs the basic PSGroove exploit; it allows you to install and run unsigned packages.

### Apploader Payload
This payload makes use of the /app_home/PS3_GAME menu item. You may place an application on a USB drive under the PS3_GAME folder to run it without installing a package.

Note that simply extracting a .pkg onto the USB drive is not quite enough for a program to run. EBOOT.BIN must be slightly modified to boot properly.

I can't even get the Backup Manger started. I've unpacked the mangers pkg, made a EBOOT.ELF out of the EBOOT.BIN (with unfself.exe), then I've made a EBOOT.BIN out of this ELF (with make_fself.exe) and copied the new EBOOT.BIN over to USBSTICK:/PS3_GAME/USRDIR...

What am I missing?

I tested your evil_test3_patched but its not working. It fails to mount the game.

The backup manager will leave a mark in 3 files of your ps3, you can either delete it with the ftp or format your hdd.

\dev_hdd0\vsh\pushlist\game.dat
\dev_hdd0\vsh\pushlist\patch.dat
\dev_hdd0\home\00000001\etc\boot_history.dat

00000001 = 1st Profile
00000002 = 2nd Profile

and so on.

Also the BM is stored in \dev_hdd0\game but you can delete it via menu.

do a backup to USB before hand then you can always restore.

eh? i'm not sure im understanding what you did or were trying to do. ps3 boots debug, no usb eboot or backup manager mounting.

either way, i gotta get to bed i'm tired.. been looking at code all night.

ok this payload has been edited to hopefully have the bdvd enabled. I took a different root then messing with payload_apploader.S so hopefully it will work. if it does not then I will look into payload_apploader.S with you but I think that the payload I have in port1_config_descriptor.h will be needed no matter what to enable bdvd.

As for payload_apploader.S it is a modified payload_default.S with only code added for usb support.

I did a compare on them but I will look into it again.

the code is in payload_apploader.S thats where you want to be.
