Today CJPC has assisted blackb0x with their latest release, dubbed PS3 LV2Dump v0.7a which enables PSGroove users to finally dump the PS3 LV2 GameOS for examination!

Download: PS3 LV2Dump v0.7a

Previously JaicraB with TeamHades dumped the PS3 hypervisor LV2 (GameOS) and revealed how it was done, however, the dump was not clean and so work resumed until today.

To quote from the included ReadMe file: "This application will dump all accessible LV2 memory on a jailbroken retail PS3.

To run this app, place lv2dump_07a.pkg on a usb memory stick. Install the pkg. Then run LV2Dump from the XMB. It should run for approximately 20-30 seconds, then it will exit back to the XMB. There will now be a file named LV2.BIN in the folder /dev_hdd0/game/

You can access your dump by copying the file out with your own code, or the FTP application.

Before attempting another dump, delete the LV2.BIN that is in /dev_hdd0/game/ as the next dump will append to the file if it exists.

The dump is right around 8MB - which will let you take a look at the PS3's kernel.

Expect more tools from us in the future for the PS3."

I got my PS3 back from sony today and it had firmware 3.15 on it. The dvd drive works now, and they put all new plastic on it so it looks brand new again.

So now my only question is, when will the jailbreak/groove be ported to older firmwares? How close is this to happening?

lol or i could just you know install WIN3.1 i still have floppies....

you know it amazes me how many "NEWBIES" are asking if they can just swap hdds to keep older firmware... i think most of these people just bought ps3s or have never done anything with them (they use it as sonys box on the latest firmware untill they figured out they could pirate)... i wish a hdd swap would work then we could all be on FW1.0, but then we would all be pooping roses on easy street, and that wouldnt be any fun would it....

now all i need is to find a cheep compatible psgroove board... should have bought a Teensy++ a week before this was released if only i would have known...

Mr. Computer repair guy, man, sir, I need my computer fixed, the yellow light on the front just keeps blinking. Yes I checked the video cables. Yes the power cord is plugged. (-dumb techs-) A power cycle, sure, one sec. Nope still blinks yellow. Ah so now I am authorized for your repair service, thanks. I really don't want the newest software on it though, I feel its just bloatware... Can you give you me Windows 3.1? If you got pre-3.1 that's even better too, DOS works?

@SK group: I'd say you got lucky then. You guys gotta realize, there are more than just one service center, and the manager at one might not be as nice as one elsewhere. Its at the discretion of the supervisor in most cases.

As far as the question about TOS, like someone above said, when you send it to them, you're basically agreeing to their TOS already. They're not agreeing to them on your behalf. You're stating "Hi Mr. Sony guy, I need my PS3 fixed. Do what you need to do to fix it".

It may seem shady, but its just part of the repair process. When you take your computer to a repair shop due to a virus or hard drive crash, and they reinstall the OS for you, wouldn't you be upset if they didn't install the latest patches and updates?

Same deal here.

i see. oh well! enjoy the dump then

on and re: sony and repairs i talked to a manager and got them to make an agreement that id get MY console back (or at least the case) with whatever firmware i wanted.

i told them about otheros etc they said its fine to have a lower firmware because i told them i had no need for the ps3 if it got updated and that id complain to the fair trades commission of they upgraded ^_^

eitherway i ended up fixing it myself so yeah, not an eventful story.

Indeed. 192_sdk_full.rar is extremely hard to find, if not impossible. And who has it is really from a *very closed circle*... Well, I lost two days searching every corner of the googleable places and found nothing.

Funny - this seems to have been built with SDK 2.70. Either that version got leaked without hitting the news or someone on team blackb0x has SCE DevNet access

I dumped mine last night, the whole file is blank LOL. I wouldn't really expect much though from 8MB, probably hit the wrong address

anyways I'll try to dump it again later today ;] I was excited as hell to see the dump but it was 100% blank rofl

Now, when they install the latest firmware themselves, aren't they agreeng to the TOS on yours behalf? Maybe they even have the right to sell your house on your behalf? Nonsense. I'd sue them nevertheless lines in the manual. You didn't give them right to agree to the things you don't want to.

By sending it to them you agree to them doing it on your behalf. If you don't agree then sending it to Sony for repair isn't the best action one could take. But by all means go ahead and sue. It just doesn't seem like a cost effective solution since you'll just end up losing and be out those legal fees.
