sorry to break the news to you but, you can install retail pkgs on a test. you need fw 1.50 for that & it hasn't been leaked to the public yet.

its is an f.a.q. about test units, very informative.
i have a feeling it will pop up sooner than later, so try to be patient cause i know its hard to wait.

I downloaded the new firmware for my test unit, everything works peachy.

Only problem is when mw2 prompts me to update the patch to version 1.08, it downloads then gives me a dns error after downloading. Anyone have this problem before? really want to play online, but alas.

PS3 Firmware isn't region-restricted, however, installing it on Retail consoles with the swap trick will only end up giving you the Debug menus with no functionality, so it really is a waste of time.

Sorry again, i've made some confusion about Debug, test and retail. Debug = Test, Retail = crap. Sorry again and thank Boss for the answer.

If you install Debug Firmware on a Debug console then you can run them yes, but not on a Retail console. If you haven't checked it out already, here is an F.A.Q. that may be of help as well.
