March 15, 2013 // 7:32 pm - Following up on his previous update and Flat_z's release earlier today, Spanish PlayStation 3 developer MiralaTijera has now made available the PS2 Classics keys and Cobra 6.0 4.30 PS3 CFW payload from the DRM-infected USB dongle by the notorious scene profiteers.

Download: PS2 Classics Keys / Cobra 6.0 4.30 PS3 CFW Payload (via pastie.org/private/ugnucdtw6dcb0bjjhxbq) / Cobra 6.0 4.30 PS3 CFW Payload (Mirror)

For those naive, it's no coincidence these PS2 keys and Cobra payload are just now mysteriously being released as the PS3 capitalistic pigs Max Louarn, Paul Owen and Gary Wayne Bowser (aka GaryOpa) ready their next ripoff product for market this month and (once again) their True Blue cycle repeats on even more unsuspecting victims unfortunately.

To quote, roughly translated: payload 4.30 cobra 6.0 xDDDDDDDD

MiraElCobra what next?

Here the dongle detects the payload who send the instruction from the lv2 (0xAAAA 0xC0BA) and them one loop with a send cmd to the dongle...

From haz367: Just for testing this payload..loaded the "payload.bin" using his 4.31CFW and Core 2.6.5 /update4 and it seems to inject payload into kernel, comparing lv1/lv2 dumps is a mess cuse it's always different.. log of payload loaded into kernel.. then what.. lol.. back to my psu.

Finally, from ing_pereira (via elotrolado.net/hilo_informacion-sobre-ps2-classics-en-ps3_1862516_s40#p1731967660):

Here I leave the source published by Flatz (Proof of concept of ps2 classics decryption, the. ENC, the encrypted virtual memory cards. VME and CONFIG file tweaks) with notes in English and the script. Py python already prepared with keys of miralatijera again who does or leaves much of the work.

The binary klicensee no texts as always, I remind you need python and well maybe the code has errors at some point but this desconosco it since I am still in the process of testing a classic ps2.

This advanced for devs and theme they want to take a look at the issue of ps2 classics and encryption and decryption. Flatz With its analysis and work on the subject, miralatijera by keys.

Jaicrab is working on something about the COBRA USB dongle from what I've read his blog.

Thanks for that Boss, this is what got my attention tho, "PS3, PSX, DVD and BluRay ISO's can now be played without a real disc inserted in the PS3" as I have no interest with playing old games at the moment, just what I can add to it for my own gains, as like many here I have broken BDVD drives in almost all the ps3's I have.

And the ability to mount Iso images for movies is a great way to have dvd/bdvd backups. well I think so.

So once again its very interesting to me, I have no intentions of using there dongle tho. Nor am I even thinking of hacking their software, just a little look if I can to see if its safe or not. lol

Well, the Cobra was posted on the main page before HERE. As far as I can tell, all that is being hyped up is PS1/PS2 backwards compatibility (old stuff) so until they hack 3.56+ Firmware or something newsworthy for a 'pay' product I will post related updates in this ongoing thread.

With the advent of PS3 Custom Firmware replacing dongle devices things like this should be free to the PS3 scene... of course if someone hacks the Cobra USB files that too would be news.

I read awhile back that a Spanish developer (elotrolado.net/hilo_3-55-iris-manager-v1-2_1581883_s1400#p1725224455) was working on a PS1 emulator with the Cobra USB files and was planning to add the feature to Irish Manager, but sadly haven't seen any updates on it since.

This needs to be on the main page boss I almost mist this one. Thanks.

Our device has an advanced integrated Actel encryption engine to prevent device cloning. We also have several other hidden features which will prevent others from cloning our device. lol.

Nice, at least we now know their ISO format is standard so it'll make playing large backups from external a lot easier, and I won't have to re-rip all my old PS1 & 2 games. I'll still wait for an opensource (and hence free) solution for 3.55 CFW but playing PS1 & 2 backups is something my old fat PS3 needs and could get me through the summer games drought

Here is another update from their page with Cobra USB Firmware v2.0 and PS2 Support: cobra-usb.com/index.html
We have released Cobra Firmware v2.0 and Cobra USB Manager v2.0, which are both available from the downloads page. Changes in this release include:

  • Added the ability to play PS2 ISO backups from CECHC and CECHE backwards compatible consoles. Support for the remaining backwards compatible models, CECHA and CECHB, will come in a future update

  • PS3, PSX, DVD and BluRay ISO's can now be played without a real disc inserted in the PS3. Support for discless PS2 backups will come in a future update

  • Added an option for those users without a PS2 backwards compatible PS3 (including Slims) to test PS2 original games and ISO backups using the PS2 software only emulator which is by default included with all PS3's. Please note however that as the software only emulator is slow and very buggy, this feature is disabled by default and is only intended as a gimmick

  • Cobra USB manager can now make PS3 ISO's from backups in the standard "Jailbreak" directory format, using the copy function

  • Cobra USB manager is now less strict with cue/bin filenames

  • Bugfix: Cobra USB Manager was unable to get the PSX CD-ROM/CD-R title, and displayed "PSX-CDROM" instead

  • Bugfix: Under rare circumstances, Cobra USB Manager could dump invalid PS3 discs

The user manuals have been updated to reflect the changes in the v2.0 release. In addition, we have released a PC-side genps3iso tool which can convert backups dumped in the standard "Jailbreak" directory format to the ISO format supported by Cobra. As mentioned above, this is also supported directly within Cobra USB Manager however the process is faster and in our opinion easier to perform on the PC.

There is a video in the first post HERE of it in action, but I still can't see paying for something that will end up being free (like the PS JailBreak and Downgrade) so here it to hoping it makes it into the hands of some sceners.

Another update on the Cobra USB from their site:
We are pleased to announce that we are currently working on a solution to enable Cobra USB on PS3 firmware 3.55, with the release expected to take place a few weeks from now.

This will bring all of Cobra USB's ground breaking features to the more up-to-date firmware, with the added bonus of removing the need to perform the power/eject cycle to enable the dongle - this will become totally automated.

Support for 3.55 will be provided simply as a Cobra USB firmware update, meaning ALL Cobra USB dongles will be supported without the need for a new hardware revision. We will make further details available as the release draws near, keep an eye on this website for updates!
